Today is Product Hunt's 12-year anniversary.
It started with a tweet and has become a global launchpad for founders and makers.
Pretty cool to see so many now-household names—Notion, Deel, Loom, Ramp, Figma—launch their v1s on the platform.
But we've always tried to be a voice for the "little guy." The majority of what you see on PH isn't from large companies and most aren't VC-funded.
My goal was to create a positive place where anyone can share what they made and get support, whether you're a second-time founder in SF or a teen in Bengaluru shipping their first app.
12 years in, PH is older than some of the people launching on the site lol.
And more founders are launching today than ever before. We started to see a significant upswing in 2023 shortly after GPT-3.5's release.
The original thesis: As it becomes more accessible to turn ideas into reality, more people will ship products. That's playing out at an accelerating pace with AI.
The next few years will be v interesting.
Shoutout to
@rajivayyangar and the team for carrying the torch. :)
