Elon Musk is getting a $1 TRILLION pay package from Tesla. If he worked 40 hr/week, he'd be making $50 million PER HOUR. That is a truly unfathomable amount of money -- it could end hunger, fund life-changing research, & save countless lives. Instead, it's going to Elon Musk.

These concepts are difficult for the uninitiated (90% of people), but what's really happening is over the next decade he's creating ~$100 trillion of value for humanity, and he gets to keep ~1% of it. That's why it's good and fair and why humanity depends on such men for progress, but 90% of people don't understand so they ... demonize ...

You mean: Elon Musk, if he accomplishes multiple amazing feats that have never been done in the history of mankind, will have the opportunity to purchase TSLA shares from the company at a discounted rate. Fixed it for you.

To be clear, the money to pay @elonmusk does not exist. He has to create it to get it.

It will end world hunger, but not by giving cash to people (which only works for a limited amount of time, until cash runs out). Instead, robots will take over food production and will produce healthy, natural food for everyone for free.

If every person who wants to spend Elon's money for him would simply feed one child during this pause in SNAP benefits...no child would go hungry and Elon could go on working as only he can for the good of humanity. But none of them will. Not one.

Context is everything @Public_Citizen - 1. @elonmusk only gets paid if he hits crazy high goals, which will enrich every Tesla shareholder many times over if he does. 2. @elonmusk has a zero base salary. It is all incentive based. Would you like to work in this structure? Reward should equal risk. 3. If solving world hunger could be achieved by distributing other people‘s wealth as you suggest, why haven’t Russia, China and North Korea done this a very long time ago? They are the de facto experts in redistributing wealth. I’m rooting for @elonmusk and @Tesla to accomplish this incredible feat. To achieve this epic goal it will require insane levels of execution by a gigantic team at Tesla. Instead of making poor arguments by laying out fanciful plans for giving away other people‘s money let’s cheer for people who make, create, and invent the future that will lead to sustainable abundance instead of thinking in a zero sum mentality. @elonmusk creates pie factories. I’m hoping the other @elonmusk companies do the exact same thing with a pay package! @xai @SpaceX @Starlink @neuralink @boringcompany @X How’d I do @Bangers?

Elon isn't getting cash ie money. If he achieves all the goals that have been set by the company then he gets the max value of his compensation package which is made up of stock options. If he doesn't reach all the goals then he will get less than the max value of the compensation package. In oder to convert the stock options he will get he wil first have to pay Tesla the strike price of his stock options. Then on top of that he will owe income taxes at the ordinary rate for the difference in the strike price and the current market price of the shares at the time he exercises his options. The last time he excessed a large number of his options he paid about 11 billion in taxes in a singlel year.

The government spends over $7+ Trillion ever year, definitely isn't enough to end hunger. Also, for Tesla to grow that large that he hits all the tranches to equal $1T in stock... He will have saved countless lives. Neuralink is also doing life changing research.

How could it end hunger? It would be $12 dollars a year per person on Earth for 10 years. Elon successfully producing billions of Optimus farm workers will end world hunger. Redistributing little green pieces of paper will not because, to paraphrase Douglas Adams, in general, it is not the little green pieces of paper who are hungry.

Your math is off by a factor of 1000. Elon works way more than 40 hours per week, but the math works out to be $48k per hour if he hits the performance targets, making us all a lot of money, and somehow also only works 40 hours per week.

Almost all of that money goes into new companies to solve serious technological obstacles. He doesn't have fancy yachts, multiple homes or any of that. I'm a Tesla share holder and I'm good with it.

Think of how many people could be fed with the $1 trillion per year military budget in the United States.

Jesus- this post is a prime example of how people read headlines and run with their conformation bias. Clearly, they did not take a few minutes to read the details of the comp plan.

Elon Musk built Tesla FROM NOTHING into a company that build the best electric car in the world. No one thought electric cars were feasible, and no other car company can match his product. Without Elon IT WOULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN DONE. He deserves every dime he gets. You are not entitled to steal it a divide it up among yourselves and your fellow thieves.

If he worked 1 hr/10years, he would be getting 1T per hour! But he doesn't work 1hr/10years Also, value created doesn't correlate with time spent.

Elon said he would pay to end world hunger, as long as you could tell him how to do it and how much it would cost. The left gave him a number that was drastically less than the current worldwide expenditures to end world hunger. The left is non serious.

The UK Government receives 1.3 trillion every year!!! Has it ended hunger?

Tell me the details of the plan. When will he get shares that could be worth 1T?
Replying to @Public_Citizen
Become a shareholder and do just that then. Solve world hunger.
Replying to @Public_Citizen
Essentially, if he creates the technology to feed the whole world, he will get a trillion. It doesn’t work the opposite way, money cannot the hunger.

But that’s not how the deal is structured now is it.

Wait though? What kind of incentive system is that? You don’t produce anything so you get the money, and the guy that made everyone’s lives better by making great things that people want doesn’t get the money? Come on man. Incentives lead the outcomes. Incentivize the lazy and get more lazy.
