Tonight the process of opening the govt begins, less chaos is a good thing but hidden deep in the swamp speak of the Republican bill will be a waiver of PAYGO the long-standing law requiring new spending to be offset with cuts. And so it goes, a trillion here a trillion there. $38 trillion in debt and counting. A depressing outcome.

@grok has this waiver ever been in any other bills or is this new?

“The government-opening agreement guarantees that federal employees laid off during the shutdown are re-hired and gives federal employees backpay. It would, as well, prevent some future firings with a blanket prohibition on reductions-in-force in any department or agency until at least the end date of the continuing resolution: Jan. 30, 2026.” Also in the agreement is a major cave in.

Why didn’t you ever create DOGE if you’re so concerned with wasteful spending? What I have seen is you complain but get nothing done to eliminate wasteful spending.

And yet you refused to support nuking the filibuster Rand. Had the @SenateGOP had the balls to actually do what was needed and nuke the filibuster, this wouldn’t be happening. So stop your whining sir. Any shit sandwiches we are forced to eat despite what We the People wanted is 100% on you and your fellow spineless RINOs.

You need to retire. Your no on everything hasn't changed anything but you cause so much Drama for someone with no accomplishments as a Senator. Why haven't you informed the public about the Senate having control of our naions purse illegally? You don't stand on morals.

Can you explain where $7T a year goes? Because all I see is misery, people who can’t afford to stay in their homes, crumbling infrastructure, historically low workforce participation, old abandoned factories in every town in the country, cheap foreign goods, food, air and water being contaminated BY THE GOVERNMENT. Global aerial spraying, PFAS, pesticides, vaccines that cause chronic illness and death. What are you doing down there? And you’re a doctor?

Maybe as starters we should cut politicians' pay? Since you guys don't seem to work anyway. You have provided no solution only complaints. Why don't we start there?!
Replying to @RandPaul
You have done nothing since you have been in office

Finally getting the government open is huge for families hurting out there. PAYGO waivers beat endless Dem demands for more deficit-busting spending - let's fund priorities and cut the waste, not play games.

Hey, look everyone, Rand Paul thinks we still care what he says. Someone tell him his ship sailed years ago.

The Republicans now have a real opportunity to offer a better healthcare system, more affordable with more competition, not government subsidized, would love to see you support Team Republican for once, instead of ALWAYS pointing out the problems....Nothing will ever be perfect, but YOU can help it be better, don't be a purist!!

Just take from the people last. Better yet don't take from them at all they are already discarded. Government should never apply a law that doesn't apply to all Americans equally and should be favored over foreigners while still treating them with respect when they as individuals are respectable. This all goes to funding as well, no more special funding for people unless it's they are elderly, kids, or disabled.

Sounds great, and unlike some, you have a plan. I like the Penny Plan—now the 5 Penny Plan (inflation)—but have yet to see them signed into law because those with and against you are addicted to spending, and no addict goes cold turkey willingly. Grow our way out.

It's always 'less chaos' in the headlines, but the devil's in the details—like those convenient PAYGO waivers. 'A trillion here, a trillion there,' pretty soon you're talking real money. Are we really solving chaos, or just delaying the inevitable bill?
