“If someone commits a crime against you, it shouldn’t give you a job for life” Powerful voices at yesterday’s briefing on the Victims of Sexual Violence Bill 2025. For victims and survivors, the challenges don’t end when the court case ends, even where there is a conviction. Survivors Leona O’Callaghan, Sonya Stokes and Shaneda Daly, alongside Clíona Sadlier of Rape Crisis Ireland, called on TDs to support the bill brought foward by Sinn Féin’s Justice spokesperson @mattcarthy . The bill provides that as the same time as someone is convicted of a crime of sexual violence, a court could impose on order restraining the person convicted of the offence from approaching the victim. We hope there will be cross party support for this Bill, which is about supporting victims and survivors as they rebuild their lives. There must be zero tolerance for allowing offenders to hold power over their victims. #zerotolerance

Why the lack of media coverage for the plight of these people? Four former industrial home survivors have been on hunger strike outside the Dáil in all weather for over 45 days now. They had a positive meeting yesterday and are hopeful of a resolution but they'll remain on hunger strike until their demands are met. Maurice Patton O’Connell, aged 57, from Caherciveen, Co Kerry; Mary Donovan, originally from Kerry but living in Tipperary; Miriam Moriarty Owens, also from Kerry, and Mary Dunleavy Greene all spent time in industrial schools and say they have been failed by the State for the past 26 years. #Dail #HungerStrike #Redress facebook.com/share/v/16wDTTG…
On 27 October 2025, eight masked settlers with clubs attacked the home of Wafa and Mahmoud Daramin in Wadi Ejheish, the South Hebron Hills. The couple and their four children, including a six-month-old baby, fled inside and locked the door. For about 10 minutes, settlers tried to break in, shouting “Open the door!”, smashing windows, and spraying pepper spray inside. They also smashed the family’s car and damaged a security camera. Others broke into the sheep pen, killed 10 sheep, injured four more and set fire to hay. The family, and especially the children, struggled to breathe. When Mahmoud’s brothers arrived, the settlers fled. The family was taken to Yatta Governmental Hospital and treated with oxygen masks. Israel’s occupation and apartheid regime enables daily settler violence as a means to drive Palestinians from their land and advance the ethnic cleansing of the West Bank.

Care workers are the backbone of our communities. Their vital work deserves recognition, fair pay, and respect. I was proud to speak at today’s @EPSUnions conference in Brussels on the future of care work across the EU. #carers #fairpay #workersrights

The genocide has just gone quieter, slower, more insidious. It has not stopped. Nor should we stop opposing it!
Channel 4 News is inside one of many warehouses filled with tonnes of aid that the Israeli authorities are not letting through to Gaza. It's estimated that there is enough aid for 150 trucks per day, five days per week for three months to help Palestinians. We have reached out to the Israeli government for a response.

Palestinian residents were allowed to harvest their olive crops this morning in the village of Qaryut, south of Nablus, only to find their trees cut down and destroyed by settlers.

A Palestinian man from Silwan in East Jerusalem is demolishing his own home after receiving a demolition order from the municipality. If he doesn’t do it, the city will tear it down and force him to pay the enormous cost. The municipality will never order a Jewish resident to demolish their own home. This policy is reserved for Palestinians. Apartheid.

Israeli soldiers harass a little Palestinian girl and take her bicycle. If soldiers were bullying a child like this in any other country, half of Washington would be calling for military intervention to stop it. But when Israel does it, the US funds it.

The Dáil is back today and I’m heading into Leaders Questions to challenge the Government on out of control electricity bills once again. Irish households are being fleeced and they still do nothing. We need to put an end to this rip off, take on these companies and bring back energy credits to support workers and families.

🔴 The UN Commission of Inquiry found that “forced public stripping and nudity, sexual harassment including threats of rape, as well as sexual assault” are “standard operating procedure” of Israeli forces toward Palestinians, and that “other forms of sexual and gender-based violence, including rape and violence to the genitals, were committed either under explicit orders or with implicit encouragement by Israel’s top civilian and military leadership.” It concluded that “the frequency, prevalence, and severity of sexual and gender-based crimes perpetrated across the Occupied Palestinian Territory lead the Commission to conclude that sexual and gender-based violence is increasingly used as a method of war by Israel to destabilize, dominate, oppress, and destroy the Palestinian people.” 🎥 Video via @zeteo_news. @mehdirhasan interviewing UN Commissioner of Inquiry Chris Sidoti.
Update:The Israeli air strikes and bombardment of Gaza last night killed 64 Palestinian civilians including 24 innocent children and injured hundreds. Among the Palestinians killed 18 adults and children from one family ( Abu Dalal family in Nusairat ), attached is a video of the house of the family.

Israeli settlers even poison the wells. Clear evidence of Israel contaminating the water supply of the entire region. Well poisoning is the ultimate coward's move. Israel shows the world it has no red lines, no shame, no humanity.
The devastating effects of the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza. No impunity for the war criminals.
