2010: THE YEAR WE MAKE CONTACT The 1984 sequel to “2001: A Space Odyssey” (1968)… It feels like the film is overlooked quite a bit, but it’s a really good sci-fi movie that continues the ‘2001’ story & is based on an Arthur C. Clarke book. It also had a phenomenal cast including the likes of Helen Mirren, Roy Scheider, Keir Dullea, John Lithgow, and Douglas Rain (again providing the voice of HAL 9000). It’s certainly worth a watch! [No Ai/Bots] [Image: UA/MGM]

Not best of all time, but little-known and very much worth watching, preferably with no foreknowledge whatsoever.

Maybe Heavy Metal! I love that movie! I distinctly remember watching it while trying Salvia all by myself, and the green orb was cornering the girl, and she screamed, "Help!" - I was so screwed up from the Salvia I actually thought, "Who, me? Am I supposed to help this chick?" Great movie! LOVE it.

'The 1970 film is about an advanced American defense system named Colossus becoming sentient. After being handed full control, Colossus' draconian logic expands on its original nuclear defense directives to assume total control of the world and end all warfare for the good of humankind, despite its creators' orders to stop.'

A 1962 movie about the aftermath of a nuclear war. Very understated but that makes it effective

Star Trek lll: The Search For Spock..it's got everything - the tension, James Horner's music, sabotage, majesty, the clunky engine sounds when the Excelsior comes to a dead stop and when Scotty quips "The more they overthink the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain"...

Most underrated "sci-fi" movie of all time? Dark City (1998) A neo-noir mind-bender about memory, identity, and alien manipulation in a perpetually night-bound world. Underrated for its groundbreaking production design that influenced The Matrix, yet it bombed at release. An awesome watch even in 2025!

A great film with James Caan (who was also in Rollerball)

A fun movie from 1980, seen either as a tribute to or a rip-off of Star Wars
