The GOP won’t allow elections to happen. And when they do, they don’t allow the winners to be sworn in and seated. Be very worried about 2026 and 2028. Be very worried. This is now an openly and proudly anti-democratic party.
Eight months ago, Rep. Sylvester Turner D-TX died. His seat in the U.S. House is still vacant. On Tuesday, two Dems advanced to a runoff for that seat. When is the runoff?? We don't know. That runoff date still must be set by Gov. Greg Abbott.

You could extend ACA subsidies for ‘free’ in reconciliation using current policy, which GOP did to pass tax cuts
Republicans are revving back up the reconciliation machine as Trump focuses his ire on the filibuster. "Lindsey tells me he supports it," says Sen. Kennedy. "He's going to start budget committee hearings on a resolution ... he told me he's all for doing reconciliation" "one answer to [Trump on the filibuster] -- I'm not saying it will satisfy the president -- is to do a reconciliation"

van jones, who was joking about dead palestinian babies with bill maher one month ago, thinks zohran should be nicer about winning
CNN's Van Jones was not a fan of Zohran Mamdani's angry, far-left, rage-filled victory speech: "I think he missed an opportunity. I think the Mamdani that we saw in the campaign trail, who was a lot more calm, who was a lot warmer, who was a lot more embracing, was not present in that speech. And I think that Mamdani is the one you need to hear from tonight. There are a lot of people trying to figure out, can I get on this train with him or not? Is he going to include me? Is he going -- is he -- is he going to be more of a class warrior even in office? I think he missed a chance tonight to to open up and bring more people into the tent. I think his tone was sharp. I think he was using the microphone in a way that he was almost yelling. And that's not the Mamdani that we've seen on Tiktok and the great interviews and stuff like that." "So, I felt like it was a little bit of a character switch here, where the warm, open, embracing guy that's close to working people was not on stage tonight. And there were some some other voice on stage. That said, he's very young. And he just pulled off something very, very difficult. And I wouldn't write him off, but I think he missed an opportunity to open himself up tonight. And I think that that will probably cost him going forward."

I don’t understand camps saying: Dems need to follow the Mamdani model to win the midterms; or Dems need to follow the Spanberger model to win. It’s a big country. Different approaches work in different places. Candidates who connect w/their specific constituencies is the model.

it can't be said enough how zionist influencers like noa tishby *want* jews to be scared. noa's career depends on instilling fear into her audience so she can sell them racism as a solution.

To all newly ex-Luminosity creators: unless your contract says otherwise, they owe you for the entire length of the contract, not just the last 3 months. Contact a lawyer to discuss your options.
Vertical Studios (TSX: $VRTS) is releasing all of Luminosity's creators. As part of the release, creators will receive payment for outstanding arrears dating back to the acquisition.

Apart from the ‘reduce spending’ line I literally enthusiastically agree with every other recommendation on this list from a conservative GOP congressman. What is happening to the world?
To avoid a repeat of last night’s shellacking in the 2026 midterms, Republicans should: quit covering for pedophiles put America before Israel put farmers before corporations quit funding wars abroad reduce spending to control inflation quit attacking independent voices

The only way Republicans can re-open the government is by re-opening Congress. That would mean swearing in Grijalva, which would trigger the release of the Epstein files - which they have blocked for 3.5 months now. They are starving & bankrupting people to hide those files.
ICYMI July 23: Mike Johnson closes the House to block vote on Epstein files Plan: Trump/DOJ won’t release them; Johnson’s Committee will control “investigation” Sept 19 -Surprise: Treasury sends Congress their files (Musk & Thiel named) Hours later, Johnson closes House again

This is a five alarm fire. That entire generation has been getting rocked since COVID.
Only 30% of 2025 college graduates and 41% of 2024 graduates found entry-level jobs in their fields, per Forbes.

Every billionaire inherently understands this. The issue is they have no incentive to address the material conditions of young people, and continue advocating for their own interests. Which is why conditions have only further deteriorated in the 5 years since.
Here is Peter Thiel’s email to Zuck and Andreessen in Jan-2020 predicting socialism. Tl;dr too much student debt and lack of affordable housing keeps young people with negative capital for too long. And without a stake in the capitalist system, they will turn against it.

The program worked flawlessly and saved taxpayers time and money. The Trump Administration killed it because a couple well-connected tax prep companies wanted them to. So be sure to thank them when you’re shelling out money for private tax prep services next year.
👀 Scoop: IRS Direct File, the free government-backed program that let you file your taxes for free, is dead. IRS wrote to state tax agencies saying it would not be operational this coming tax season, per records I've obtained. IRS Direct File: 2023-2025.

The lesson isn’t that every city is New York or every state is Virginia or New Jersey it’s that when voters say the economy sucks, you can’t gaslight them with ads insisting it’s not that bad. You have to show them how you’ll make life more affordable. In some states, that means taking on private utilities; in some cities, it means free buses or childcare. The real takeaway is simple: listen to voters, ask what you can do for them, and offer clear policies that make their lives easier.

Maybe the lesson is not "Democrats should run moderates" or "Democrats should run socialists" but "Democrats should run candidates who are likable and have politics that are appealing in the specific places they are running."

G.K. Chesterton’s old adage remains undefeated: “The poor sometimes object to being governed badly. The rich always object to being governed at all.”
random thoughts sorta related to my stupid Ackman joke. I think the rich people freakout over Mamdani is confusing in a sense because it's like, you guys already own everything, why would a few more crumbs from the table be so threatening to you? I think it's partly that they are

The formula for winning young voters isn’t a mystery. The problem is the donor class and establishment HATE the candidates young voters want. When Leaders We Deserve endorsed Zohran (and became one of his largest financial supporters), a few donors called me and said they were pulling their $100k+ checks because of our support. Thankfully we’re powered by over 230,000 grassroots supporters so we can tell those donors good luck and goodbye
Updated plot from @rudnicknoah. Through 7 days of NYC Early Voting, 18-29 year old voters are already at 79% of their 2021 turnout rate. There's a real chance they get to 100%+ before Election Day.

1,790 kids went “missing” from Georgia’s foster care and Jon Ossoff did a report revealing they likely were trafficked. FROM FOSTER CARE!
And the craziest part is: John Ossoff has called for an investigation into Georgias foster care system bc there are almost 2,000 children missing. Kids are literally staying in old office buildings. They removed kids in some situations but not others that are worse .
