UPDATE: probably the final update in this series. Echo ate a sizable dinner (3cups) of boiled shredded chicken with white rice and tiny cheese cubes dinner last night. He kept it all down. In fact, he hasn’t puked since the vet gave him the anti-nausea medication on Thursday afternoon. This morning, he returned to his regular routine - of being where he’s supposed to be - waiting in line, behind Zero, to pee, etc. Once outside, he did his business and even tried to poop a little, but nothing came out so we’re still waiting for our first poop (since Tuesday morning) but of course he was completely empty and these things take time and we must be patient. I am confident he will get there at some point today. That was a team effort, pulling him back from the brink… twice. Once with a fever that almost killed him and then again, with an overdose of antibiotics that drained his digestive system from both sides. Somewhat fortunate that it perfectly coincided with my wife’s annual vacation. She got robbed this year. We spent our vacation time & money at the vets. Thanks again for all of your prayers and well wishes. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Poor boy. Did they say what he had that caused the fever?

Thanks, Cindy. They’re America’s favorite Great Danes! 😜. We’re very happy. That stuff can test relationships and your ability to remain calm under pressure. PS - I failed.

When my GiGi had her surgery a few weeks, the euphoria I felt when she did her first poop after 6 days was memorable 😂

Great news. Any idea why he got sick??
Not initially. No clue as to what caused his temperature to spike. That will forever remain a mystery.

We keep the generic version of Cerenia in stock. That way, if we have an episode, we can text the vet. When he says: give’r 1 cerenia, I’ve got it. No mad dashes.

Could he be plugged up?

I’ve been there myself, also with a Black Great Dane. You’ll worry yourself to death. I get it.

Good to hear he’s doing better.

Good to hear he’s made some milestones to recovery. The random digestive problems are par for the course with the breed. The fever was more concerning. Shout out to Zero for helping you guys through it all.
