If my boy, Echo, must eat rice all day, then at least let’s make sure it’s the best rice it can be. Put 2 tablespoons of butter in the bottom of my pan and turn the stove top to a low medium heat until the butter melts and then pour in 3/4 cup of rice. And stir this for a minute, allowing the butter to coat each kernel of rice in fat. Then add 1.5 cups (double the rice) of chicken STOCK (much more flavorful than broth). Bring that stock to a short-boil. Then cover the pot and reduce the temp to simmer for :16 to :18 minutes, and Bob’s your uncle.

Chicken flavored rice is done. Time to let it cool.

I used to feed a similar concoction to my Clyde. I'd make a broth with a chicken leg quarter and some veg. Usually carrot and sweet potato. Use the broth to cook the rice. Add the chicken and diced veg. Maybe a handful of blueberries.

I used to make all my border collies food and I made rice twice a week just like this. But in a rice cooker. I’m happy my new puppy eats kibble. It was a ton of work
