Cursor background agent vibecoded an application for me while I was sleeping last night I saw a brilliant post yesterday from @rosecoder who used cursor background agents in a brilliant way for refactoring away all default exports in their web He launched a bunch of agents via the API and each agent was in charge of a set of files to refactor I thought this was brilliant, and was thinking if, could we create an abstraction layer above the cursor background agent to replicate this in an easy way? Answer: yes we can, thanks to @cursor_ai great API Code is open source and can be found at my github, its called "vibe-cursor"

bugbot has really upped their game recently and is showcasing a deeper understanding of the codebase than before previously, (atleast for me) it was eager to find small local issues but now it manages to find more complex issues that requires deeper context gj cursor

checked every .NET LLM SDK (OpenAI, Anthropic, Semantic Kernel, Azure) none have this: GenerateObject<T>() auto schema generation + auto deserialization + type safety OpenRouter .NET sdk just shipped it

"oh but openai, anthropic etc etc already provides the research feature!" yes but none of these tools understand your codebase as good as cursor's background agent

it is such a luxury to just spin of one or multiple agents on tasks like this I come up with an idea and I dont even have to write it down anywhere except in the prompt cursor background agent is my new notepad

a really cool use case for cursor background agent is for research and planning: "We need to integrate with X, dig deep online for docs, dig deep in our codebase, and come back with a proposal" If you are ballsy, you can, of course, ask it to implement it right away

cursors new model, composer, is brilliant when you know exactly what you want a really good usecase is when an ai code reviewer, coderabbit or bugbot for instance, gives you exact context and instruction of what needs to be fixed composer is literally done within a couple of seconds
