We know, @rparmar_BC. We know. We’ve already seen mills like Aspen Planers in Merritt shut down due to a shortage of logs, owing to an inability to obtain cutting permits from *your* ministry.Ā They said, ā€œthe shortage stems from provincial policy decisions, including Indigenous co-governance under DRIPA legislation.ā€ And as one worker explained, ā€œthat means I could soon be without a paycheque. Without that paycheque, I won't be able to pay my mortgage, my bills, or provide for my children.ā€ These are real people you’re hurting with your radical reconciliation policies. merrittherald.com/aspen-plan…
First Nations are at the heart of our vision for forestry. They will always have a seat at my table. I’m so proud to have First Nations forestry leaders like Jenny Joe of @bcfnfc here on the largest Asia trade mission in our history. Let’s deliver for British Columbia. #bcpoli

You don’t build a military with one week annual training in basic skills for career pen pushers. You recruit raw talent and potential and make the deadliest machine possible and hope to God they never have to be used.
Must be one of the funniest headlines I have ever read. And not the @TheBabylonBee either.

The Project BC Vision will set the new agenda for British Columbia. A renewal geared towards hope and prosperity for a generation robbed of a future. British Columbia will never again become a spectator to its own potential. Coming soon…

Is this you? ā€œStrategic Land Returnā€ ā€œHonouring UNDRIP as it was intendedā€ Nobody believes you anymore John.
#STATEMENT : What we’ve just witnessed with the Cowichan decision is nothing short of a political disgrace. This isn’t a legal technicality. This isn’t a misunderstanding. This is a full-blown dereliction of duty by David Eby and his NDP government, and British Columbians are the ones paying the price. The judge herself stated, ā€œIt is notable that neither the Province nor Canada took the position that the Crown grants of fee simple extinguished Aboriginal title to the Claim Area.ā€ In other words, your government didn’t even bother to defend the foundation of your land rights. They left the field without firing a shot. Let’s get one thing straight: the government didn’t even try to defend you. Neither BC nor the feds argued that fee simple land grants extinguished Aboriginal title. That’s not a clerical error. That’s a deliberate political choice. They stood down. They left the field. They left homeowners, small businesses, farmers, millions of ordinary people, completely exposed. And then, as if that wasn’t insulting enough, they waited six years. Six years of silence. And what do you get? Not a plan. Not legal protection. Not even a straight answer. No... you got a leaflet. A condescending, vague, bureaucratic handout delivered by a staffer, not even the Premier himself. That’s Eby’s idea of leadership. That’s his response to one of the most consequential land rulings in the province’s history: a flyer. This government has thrown the very foundation of land ownership into chaos. The court declared Crown-held fee simple land invalid in some cases. That’s not theory. That’s not debate. That’s now legal precedent. And because your Premier chose not to defend your rights, that precedent now sits there like a loaded weapon, ready to be used in Kamloops, and in every corner of this province where title hasn’t been extinguished. Let’s be clear: the legal and financial fallout from this ruling will be massive. We’re talking hundreds of millions in legal fees, compensation, and endless negotiation. Property values are at risk. Insurance will spike. Municipalities are vulnerable. Lenders are exposed. And investors will start running, not walking, out of British Columbia. But this goes deeper than just economics. This is about trust. About the basic expectation that your government has your back. That when a legal threat to your home, your land, your business appears, your Premier shows up and fights for you. But David Eby didn’t fight. He ran. He hid behind lawyers and leaflets. He watched this unfold for six years and said nothing. And now, when the damage is done, he’s pretending to care. This is the same pattern we’ve seen over and over again: mills closing, pipelines blocked, energy investment dead in the water, and now, private property rights? Tossed aside like they don’t matter. The NDP’s ideology is wrecking this province piece by piece, and this time, they’re coming for the land under your feet. I’ll say it plainly: the Cowichan ruling proves David Eby will not defend your rights. Not in court. Not in negotiations. Not even in principle. And if you think this ends here, you’re dreaming. This is just the beginning, unless we put a stop to it. British Columbians need to ask themselves one thing: When your government won’t defend your home, your business, or your land—what exactly is it good for? Let me be absolutely clear about what we, the Conservative Party of British Columbia, will do in the face of this outrageous failure by the NDP government. We will immediately change BC’s position to include the extinguishment of indigenous rights where they overlap with private property.. Not next month. Not after more ā€œconsultation.ā€ Immediately. Homeowners, farmers, and business owners across this province deserve to know that their government is prepared to fight for them, not just hand over the keys and walk away. We will refer this issue to the Supreme Court of Canada. There needs to be a clear, binding legal answer to this fundamental question: can Aboriginal title override fee simple private property rights in British Columbia? Because right now, thanks to Eby’s cowardice, the courts are setting precedent without opposition. We’re demanding that Ottawa and Victoria put this question before the highest court in the land and stop playing games with people’s lives We will pause all negotiations that involve Indigenous title over privately owned property until legal clarity is secured. Full stop. No responsible government can sit at a negotiation table while refusing to defend the existing property rights of its own citizens. We will also bring full transparency to all other land and treaty negotiations. British Columbians have a right to know what’s on the table, what’s being promised, and whether their rights are at risk. This government has been operating behind closed doors for years. We will tear the cover off that process and make sure private property is never put on the chopping block without a fight. We will guarantee public assurance to homeowners. Not vague language. Not veiled legal jargon. A clear, written, public guarantee that their property rights will be defended, aggressively and without apology. We will not sit back while British Columbians are left to wonder if they actually own the land they live on. We will reinforce the protection of private property rights. Full stop. Property rights are the bedrock of a free society. If government can’t be trusted to defend ownership, it cannot be trusted with anything. The Conservative Party of British Columbia will stand firm, we will not allow this government to weaken or ignore the rights of landowners under the guise of political correctness or reconciliation theatre. And let me say this about the land-title uncertainty David Eby has unleashed: this isn’t just bad policy, it’s economic sabotage. Investors are watching. Families are watching. Businesses are hesitating. This cloud hanging over fee simple title affects confidence, economic growth, and the future of our province. It tells every person considering buying a home or starting a business in BC: you might not actually own what you pay for. And let me say it again: we will defend existing private property rights without hesitation. The people of this province deserve nothing less. The message the NDP has sent to Richmond, BC and Canada, is unacceptable. And under a Conservative government, that message will end. #BCpoli #cdnpoli

Gender surgeries for minors. Trans athletes in sports. Land acknowledgements. My latest column touches on some of the most contentious issues around, and explains why our elected MLAs’ refusal to even talk about hard things is bad for democracy. ā€œWe can’t keep banning views from structured discussion in the name of emotional safety, because tucking them out of sight doesn’t make them go away. Instead, it puts optics over the basic principles that allow us to peacefully disagree, and it pushes our most contentious issues to the edges of society where resolution is next to impossible. Democracy thrives on discourse, but – ironically – the people we elect keep shutting it down.ā€ Read my column at @WDiminishment: open.substack.com/pub/withou…

On this day: November 9th, 1989. The Berlin Wall finally is taken down by people who finally had had enough of communism. It’s a good day to remember the horrors of communism everywhere it has been tried. Communists have to build walls to trap people inside. That’s how wonderful a system it is! People flee communist countries to escape the misery, poverty and totalitarianism. Let’s all be vigilante to make sure this terrible system is never allowed to take hold anywhere else. The communists change their names, suppress their history and lie about their results. But in the end, people yearning for freedom will eventually break free. Today, I’ll be praying for all those poor people who live in communist countries.
If it was about the economy - Stephen Harper would still be prime minister.

The fact that our generation wants to tackle social issues is so foreign to Laurentians that debating this way is the only way we’ll garner & maintain an honest hearing. After defining social norms for decades, they scoff at us for even attempting to join the conversation.
This weekend I engaged Mr. Coyne with respect & a good faith argument. I think it’s fair to say I was met with condescension & derision. Our generation has a unique responsibility to engage in honest & respectful debate, even when we’re not met with the same treatment. #cdnpoli

If they haven’t already, David Eby and the NDP will cause the largest investor confidence crisis in BC history.
Premier @Dave_Eby calls British Columbia a ā€œcolonial mistakeā€. He says DRIPA is the solution, one that means giving away B.C.’s public land and provincial authority. No Premier has ever said so plainly that BC shouldn’t exist as we know it.

This video is actually very indicative of the ā€˜original sin’ ideology behind Eby’s radical reconciliation policies. He’s explicit that the Declaration Act (DRIPA/UNDRIP) is about ā€œcorrecting [the] original colonial mistakeā€ and that ā€œit works for First Nations, it works for the provincial governmentā€¦ā€ but unmentioned is whether it works for British Columbians. If the BC government isn’t looking out for the broader public interest, who is?
It’s been 10 years of the First Nations Leadership Gathering — and this year’s was the largest yet. This week, more than 1200 meetings took place between First Nations the provincial government. It’s an opportunity to listen, learn and find ways to make a meaningful difference.

You’re way off the mark here. If you’re not allowed to deport non citizens convicted of serious crimes then who exactly can you deport? This is low hanging fruit in terms of moving forward with fixing Canada’s immigration system.
There are big issues to tackle on the immigration front. This ain’t it. I’m beginning to understand why past CPC Immigration Shadow Ministers have been told it’s best to be quiet.

Please correct me if I’m wrong but from @Anthony__Koch’s post you’re linking to here—your impression seems to be that our generation wants to completely jettison economic issues in favour of the culture wars, which, again, no one has actually said. We’d merely prefer to not cede ground to progressives on every social issue. I think anyone can look at the state of the country and see why that is.

Read this whole story and let yourself become rightly outraged. The Liberals are happy to allow this happen on their watch. Non-citizens convicted of serious crimes must be deported. Conservatives will strengthen the law to stop this from happening. nationalpost.com/news/canada…

Yes. This is the principle that led to the founding of @WDiminishment by @GeoffRuss3, @alexbrown17 and me. There’s a sizable, frustrated portion of the young population out there who rightly feel the system isn’t working for them. The kinds of socialist ā€˜solutions’ proposed by Mamdani are dangerous - not just for our prosperity but our society. But if we don’t offer a more responsive outlet on the right, one that speaks to & offers solutions to valid concerns around lack of mobility & a rapidly changing society, we’ll lose young people to leaders like him. As I say often, it’s isn’t as though the economic/fiscal stuff doesn’t matter (it DOES, of course!) but that unless we learn to speak in a way that motivates young people and demonstrates that we hear them and take their very valid frustrations seriously, we will lose them to far more radical voices on the left and right.
As it turns out, young people will vote, they just need something to vote for. Nobody my age is excited about the same old ideas, from the same old people who simply refuse to retire and move on.
