But I think they just inadvertently admitting MCP has fundamental problems and their “solution” makes MCP… redundant
This "shoot their own foot" show breaks down as follows:
- Anthropic: “We created MCP to connect AI with tools!”
- Developers: “Why not just use APIs?”
- Anthropic: “No, you need a standard protocol!”
6 months later…
- Anthropic: “OK the problem is MCP uses too many tokens. Solution: write code to call MCP.”
*Thinking* 😂
Wait… hold on: MCP wraps APIs → Now telling AI to write code to call MCP tools → So MCP can… call APIs
- Developers: “So… why not just write code to call APIs directly?”
- Anthropic: 🤐
So… MCP = over-engineered solution
(*) Plot twist: This “code execution + filesystem” approach is exactly what Claude Skills does and Skills works better because:
- No servers needed
- Token-efficient from the start
- Progressive disclosure built-in
- Works across different models
Anthropic can’t straightforwardly admit that MCP was over-engineered because they’ve already created it and invested too much in it, but this very post shows they’re educating people to shift towards Skills.

Está batalla, porque la guerra apenas está empezando, está MUY interesante. Yo aún estoy a años luz de tener la confianza para usar un browser con un agente de IA empotrado con uso de mis credenciales, pero eventualmente eso será normal y esta es LA pelea.
