Even in the suburbs, the police aren't going to investigate a theft of goods worth "only" $1200. I was told years ago that anything under $2500 wouldn't get investigated. After Bidenflation, that number is probably $10,000.
For lower level crimes in the City, there’s also just a different standard. Some crimes just don’t rate.
I took my son to get brunch. Rode my cannondale bike connected to a Burley bike trailer. Then we met some friends and I ended up walking home and forgetting about it. Next day I go back and *obviously* it had been stolen
In the suburbs, having $1200 worth of stuff stolen would be newsworthy. In the City, I just blamed myself for being a dummy who left it (locked up) overnight. And obviously didn’t bother to report it.
