Good riddance.
If Robert Tucker @FDNYFC is stepping down because he refuses to serve under a democratically elected mayor who happens to be Muslim, that isn’t integrity, it’s prejudice. Public service is about serving everyone, not just people who share your religion or politics.
Zohran Mamdani has never “demonized Jewish people.” He has criticized policies of the Israeli government, which is a legitimate political stance, not antisemitism. Conflating the two is dishonest and dangerous.
New York City deserves leaders who believe in democracy and equality, not people who walk away the moment someone with a different faith takes office. If Tucker’s loyalty to his job depends on who’s mayor, then yes, good riddance.
