After eight years in St. Louis City, we’re saying goodbye this summer. Next stop: Ithaca, New York!
I’ve been here longer than STL, but I’m also going to make this the end my run on Twitter. If you want, you can find me on Instagram instagram.com/chrisprener?ig… - be well!
Probably should have said this at the outset - this is *not* a technical course. It’s a seminar about how challenges with data impact research, but also create challenges for the increasingly sophisticated AI models many of us use (often unwittingly) on a daily basis.
John Lansing, NPR CEO, at the @MorningEdition meeting.
NPR says it will de-emphasize Twitter. Aside from the misleading label, NPR says Twitter isn’t used by most Americans; drives little traffic to NPR; and “no longer has the public service relevance that it once had.”
I’m losing it here… anyone have experience counting single parent households in the ACS? There are two tables (B11012 for 2019 on and B25115) plus some variables in DP02. But since 2019, they give different counts and I cannot figure out why…
Bigger than all but two national parks, older than nearly all of them and the national park service, constitutionally protected, and home to >2.6 million acres of public lands. The #Adirondacks are amazing.
While folks are thinking about Justice Thomas's controversial visits to the #Adirondacks, I'll add that, hey, you should visit us too. It's amazing here. Unlikely a billionaire will host you, but camping sites are free, the hiking is great and you'll love our little towns.❤️ 😊🏃♂️
Well, we’ve made it at long last to the finals.
Our two contestants are;
ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI
vs
KAZAKHSTAN
Voting will start tomorrow!
And as a slight added incentive, the winning flag will be my profile picture for the next month!
The 2022 @uscensusbureau Population Estimates were released last week, giving us county-level information on population change.
These datasets aren't on the Census API, but you can now access them in #rstats through #tidycensus (dev version)

The most disturbing set of data on America that I have encountered in a long time. This transcends politics.
This is especially scary remembering that demographics were the best early warning on the collapse of the USSR.

Still so steamed about this state and the Christian nationalists in Jeff City. The comments and votes of the last few weeks remind me of Missouri Executive Order 44 - the “Mormon Extermination Order.” It reminds me why we have no federally recognized indigenous nations here.
