this was my first time working for the business press writ large and it’s fascinating what saying you’re with a business mag can do when you’re calling people up and asking them how much money they spend on things. Like getting a glimpse into Oz.

but also it was striking seeing the difference between European youth cycling in 🇸🇮 where the teams provide the resources and equipment for families vs N. America where everything is very pay to play. It’s better than before but still a stacked system even for middle class kids

It’s some serious hurdles, and the tech (and therefore expenses) just keeps rising… This is why we, and some other key cycling initiatives exist across Africa also, to help riders where there is either no help, little help, or worse still, cycling federation corruption which takes what little funds or equipment has actually made it on the ground. Add to this the huge hurdles of European visas and travel costs to get to races… We will prevail but we need support! #AfricaRising

Whenever i visit family in the states i go for rides. I'm always taken aback how cyclists are kinda unfriendly and exclusive in a lot of the country. It's not really the same sport

This sounds very much like the UK.
