Saved by the Germans. Shame on us Danes.
We did it: 🇩🇪Germany will OPPOSE Chat Control! 🥳 Thanks everyone for writing to the ministers. 🫶 #ChatControl will not get a majority in the EU Council - at least for now.

IMO Poles with their antibody immunity for mass surveillance acquired from years of communism are the real unsung heroes.

Crazy... Gov keep trying to make cryptography illegal to get more power :( Seems like obviously large potential for abuse of government power or abuse from other actor exploiting the fact that security is generally weakened across the board by some regulation adherence slop that also causes huge waste of intellectual talent... trying to give government ways to use keys, kind of like what happens in China where cryptography is illegal and they have keys to your Amazon secretsmanager keys, but don't know what to do with them anyway... Like all that for what.??.. For slow internet... great firewall of being slow for everyone great for no one

Germans turned around the same day and discussed "preventive telecommunications security" smh. But what the Danes did here was evil.

It's unfortunate how sometimes external intervention is necessary.

Good thing with so many countries involved they can never agree on something That’s a bad thing as well though depending on the case The fact that they wasted so much mindshare on such nonsense topic is wild

The fact that Romania is undecided after decades of communism is even worse

It's not over yet, they will keep trying - if not next week, then in a few weeks, months, and next time around

And shame on the Swedes. Here, the public debate is completely non existent. Not one word in mainstream media. 👎🇸🇪

The real shame is letting it get to this point in the first place. Time to make sure it never happens again.

Dont trust German politicians too early! It only takes a slightly modified proposal that sounds a bit better. They want it and they want to have the EU as an excuse. We are already chasing down "opposing views below criminal threshold" They just need a Football WC to pass it. 😉

How recent is this info? To my knowledge Germany is undecided and a meeting scheduled for the 14th this month to try and lobby the undecideds to support it. In short: I’m far from certain ChatControl is dead yet.

Why does this thing keep coming back? It's been defeated so many times over the years, yet every 18 months there seems to be ANOTHER pivotal vote. Law enforcement agencies have never had it better. Everyone now has their own personal Stasi informant in their pocket 24/7.

Yeah, Slette-Mette and her cabinet is a national embarrassment. And if we know the Brussels tyrants, they'll just keep trying to get this totalitarian stuff through.

Folks, these are politicians. Sorry. Nothing has been saved yet. It looks good, yes ... But especially in Germany, they change their minds like their underpants.
