Our TPUs are headed to space!
Inspired by our history of moonshots, from quantum computing to autonomous driving, Project Suncatcher is exploring how we could one day build scalable ML compute systems in space, harnessing more of the sun’s power (which emits more power than 100 trillion times humanity’s total electricity production).
Like any moonshot, it’s going to require us to solve a lot of complex engineering challenges. Early research shows our Trillium-generation TPUs (our tensor processing units, purpose-built for AI) survived without damage when tested in a particle accelerator to simulate low-earth orbit levels of radiation. However, significant challenges still remain like thermal management and on-orbit system reliability.
More testing and breakthroughs will be needed as we count down to launch two prototype satellites with @planet by early 2027, our next milestone of many. Excited for us to be a part of all the innovation happening in (this) space!

Google has made an awesome proposal, subject to court approval, to open up Android in the US Epic v Google case and settle our disputes. It genuinely doubles down on Android's original vision as an open platform to streamline competing store installs globally, reduce service fees for developers on Google Play, and enable third-party in-app and web payments.
This is a comprehensive solution, which stands in contrast to Apple’s model of blocking all competing stores and leaving payments as the only vector for competition. The public filings are live.
Exciting news! Together with Epic Games we have filed a proposed set of changes to Android and Google Play that focus on expanding developer choice and flexibility, lowering fees, and encouraging more competition all while keeping users safe. If approved, this would resolve our litigations. We look forward to discussing further with the Judge on Thursday.

Imagine the stock market is like a giant playground where grown-ups buy and sell pieces of companies, kind of like trading toys. Today, some of the fanciest toys (companies that make smart computers called AI) got too expensive. So kids (I mean investors) said, “Whoa, that’s too much!” and started putting their toys back on the shelf. That made the whole playground feel a little wobbly, and prices went down a bit. One company called Palantir is like the kid who brags about being super smart but isn’t growing as fast as everyone thought. So people said, “Hmm, maybe it’s not that special,” and its toy price dropped a lot.Also, the big grown-up office in charge of money (the government) is taking a long nap and not telling us important numbers. That makes everyone nervous, like playing hide-and-seek without knowing the rules.
