A murder probe into the death of a woman covered in bruises and bites was dropped after pathologists said they were not sure her injuries killed her. Abbie Downing, 27, was found at her house in Rotherham after suffering a cardiac arrest in August 2023. uk.news.yahoo.com/murder-pro… Her ex-partner, Robert Redfern, told an inquest into Abbie's death that he had called 999 after he heard Abbie fall down the stairs. He was initially arrested on suspicion of assault, which was later upgraded to murder after she died. The court heard there had been a history of domestic violence between Abbie and Robert. Evidence showed she suffered a broken nose several months before her death, which Robert attributed to tripping over a dog bone. The police told the court Robert was released from the murder investigation following the pathology reports, but that enquiries into “domestic-related matters” continue.
