Tonight I'm thinking about the world I grew up in and how much I love it. Not in the "it no longer exists" way, a recognizable continuation of it is still around me. This is exactly what I want, not heaven, not eden, just more of this.

I find it hard to believe as well but my mom says she finds my dad's (very loud!) snore comforting and she has trouble falling asleep when he's away
sleeping happily with your partner every night until you die is a romantic myth that shatters the first time you hear a grown man snore
is it abuse if I tell claude it's been installed on a voyager golden disc type thing with fusion batteries and it'll be talking to itself until heat death

how about you acknowledge that they are your ideological enemies instead of deluding yourself that they had to be stupid to not side with you
Typical psych profile of a tech oligarch: Born rich but with below average intelligence. Anxious, anhedonic, antisocial, disagreeable, humorless, disliked by others. Bland on the surface, but driven by an implacable mania and shrewd aptitude for making money. Entirely amoral.

Incredibly fucked up Bart I saw today

I don't think you understand how much it'd change things if Netflix invests in an Eyeshield21 anime right now
which, looking back now, I realize she may have parsed this as "I'm so ugly without make up he can't even look at my face" I really should've complimented her on the spot sorry kate if you're reading this now

in college I had a female flatmate who didn't leave her room in the morning without putting on make up. I didn't really take notice of her, until one time 8 months into being flatmates she appeared in the kitchen without make up, and she was so beautiful I can't even look at her

btw this meme is more about generational differences in east asia mid 19s century was mostly just about surviving, so people learnt to not care about frivolous things like physical appearance this is also why china lags behind jp/kr in this phenomenon by a couple decades
the black pill is $110M still won't be nearly enough to hire enough animators to work reasonable hours at disney animators' rate

Why do these guys always operate at such a high abstraction level even for things like AI that you can actually go and try today and find out it doesn't work
Take-Two’s CEO says he doesn’t think a Grand Theft Auto built with AI would be very good. "There is no creativity that can exist, by definition, in any AI model, because it is data driven.” vgc.news/news/take-twos-ceo-…

huh. geometry = gaia (gē) + metria. measurement of the earth. ofc now we know geometry is not really about measuring the earth, but it's very interesting to imagine how much "measurement of the earth" must have seemed like the ultimate problem of that subject
Computer Science is not science, and it's not about computers. Got reminded about this gem from MIT the other day

Replying to @joilton_palhare
(the latter example is subtly different from the topic of this discussion). eddie hall, the world's strongest man, when confronted with the trans programmer, is MYSTIFIED. he might want this power for himself.
I got one of these when I told Claude my chicken breast smelled a little sour so I washed it in the kitchen sink until it didn't
Finally. Upside down Claude

The gamedesign-gamedev bifurcation is like splitting 3d modelling into the artist and the modelling software technician. Every communication between the two persons is slow, painful, and lossy, compared to the perfect and seamless process when they are one person.
how i model my silly little buildings
after recently going through sun microsystems and sgi marketing graphics, I think these aesthetics are not exactly retro. tech in 80s-90s were projecting a possible future with these visuals. that future didn't realize. ai companies are picking those paused dreams back up
it should be a case study how all AI companies aim for retro aesthetic tbh
this account has existed for a year? wow...how time flies, and what a year it has been...
