Awful lot of angry responses to this, but not a single one refutes the thesis “airdrop farmers are a very bad base for building a real community for your project” Founders of projects who tried this are liking the post. Discord grinders who move from project to project pretending to be “community” to get an airdrop are raging. Pretty sure that means the thesis is correct.
Airdrop farmers are the single worst possible foundation for a community (except for maybe 'gaming' airdrop farmers) They're all mercenary gaslighters who will literally turn the barrel around on you the *instant* you suggest that they'll get less than they think they deserve And they all think they deserve way more than they're worth because we conditioned them for 4 years to believe that spamming random txns on testnets or playing the role of gm scientist in discord for a few months somehow produced economic value in the 4-5 figure skin in the game or gtfo is the path forward
Every single person who disagrees with me on this has a timeline/feed full of Kaito leaderboard slop 😭😭😭😭😭😭

I think there is a legit way to reward users who are actually testing your alpha product and providing valuable feedback. But most are using this methodology to pump up their numbers before TGE. They are not interested in long term success anyway.

you're a Kaito slop farmer also difference is that you only need to post once or twice while other accounts have to post 30 times to show up on LB

paid shilling brands without disclosure for incentives (that rugged people who invested) and later not even bothering to say sorry is okay but someone who is testing the product, dropping feedbacks, giving opinions, becomes the community and earns those incentives is wrong 🫡

I don’t think you were totally off base but maybe lacked some context Old button pushing actually was valuable because it was helping to test new tech (DeFi, L2s). Those have become commoditized now so it’s not as valuable Just need to click buttons for the right projects that value it. That usually comes with new tech like Succinct showed with ZK proofs or Hyperliquid showed. Until we get a boom of new projects that need help testing new tech, InfoFi will rule
