Jeffries has a 74% approval rating in his own district. Zohran is right, this race isn’t worth destroying his chances to accomplish his agenda as Mayor.

I cant find anything confirming this 74% but lately his approval ratings nationwide have tanked. I can see why Zohran wouldnt want him to do this because it might result in pushback on him by establishment dems. Probably be best to stay put, but I have mixed feelings about this, and Zohran might be wrong not to support and make some bold moves at this point in time.

Could you explain the Osse-DSA drama? I thought they’re chill with eachother?

There’s no drama. He’s a progressive ally of DSA on the city council, but he’s not a socialist and hasn’t really shown any interest in being a member. DSA should maintain a positive relationship with but focus on endorsing winnable races with cadre candidates, imo

cuomo was 3 to 1 on z back in march. the tide can turn once you start to present a great alternative.

Adams had 20% approval. Cuomo was also deeply unpopular and had already been thrown out of office. Zohran’s run was strategic. So is Alexa’s run against my deeply unpopular congressman Dan Goldman. We gotta pick strategic battles.

Osse should lose the primary and then run in the general, like Cuomo. I think that is the precedent that Jeffries/Schumer helped set.

He certainly can do that but I don’t think it’s strategic for DSA to officially endorse and take resources away from races that are winnable

would love it, but regardless of present polling, jabari, a longtime and beloved dsa member, would be a way better bet (with the dsa muscle behind him) and a closer analog to what was accomplished with zohran. and anyway on it's about to be alexa time

lol nah man this is just tailism, that shit can be turned around so fast, especially in this current political climate. this race would only strengthen mamdani's position in the long run and further demarcate the democratic socialists from the establishment

Chi isn’t a socialist though. Winning this race would be a flex of DSA’s power if we could pull it off but it wouldn’t necessarily be a win for our politics.

Cause if you honestly think ANY (Hochul or Jeffries) are going to work with Zohran, you are MORE DELUSIONAL than Palin ever was with her bridge. You can't always sit around & wait till they play nice. He has to go. 2/

As of now, Hochul will work with Zohran bc she wants to win reelection and many of the voters she needs are Zohran voters.

And now you’re seeing “pragmatism” when you’ve criticized AOC for choosing her battles and being a coalition builder?

My feelings about AOC inform my view about DSA endorsing Chi. AOC is a democratic socialist. Despite that it’s hard enough for DSA to have any influence over her politics. Chi isn’t a socialist so it’d be quadruply hard. Huge downsides if he loses, unclear upsides if he wins

Lust for more power

Jeffries is also generally unchallenged in the party in rhetoric. That can change. Zohran was at 1% Stop pulling weight for people that won’t pull weight for us. The fight is atleast worth having.

What gets me about all this is nobody who cares about this and getting Osse to primary Jeffries can name the guy *already* running a grassroots campaign to primary Jeffries, or can explain why Osse would be better than somebody who already has been at this for months.

What are you talking about? Now you're running defense for Jefferies? Chi can run without giving up his Council seat.

I’m shocked he has such high approval - curious if anyone has a good explanation why. Maybe his leadership position has allowed him to bring back a lot of pork or something
