I couldn’t code 18 months ago. Yesterday I raised over $20,000 from initial customers to get my software business off the ground. Believe in yourself, be relentlessly resourceful, be relentlessly optimistic, and never give up.
“the people love it” “look at them laughing at their memes” “it’s #1 on the app store” *insert they’re not confessing, they’re bragging meme*

have you been skating to where the puck is going?

My prediction: - Computer use will start to come online in the back half of this year - Will be a tool the CLI can use - I’ll still be working in Claude Code (or an equivalent)

Have been quiet lately… 1) 2 major videos posting next Tuesday and Thursday - they are both *very* good. 2) “AI is slowing down” takes will age like milk - next big unhobbling is coming soon. Next 4mo will be a huge close to 2025 in terms of AI capabilities. Buckle up.
I now basically let an agent tell me what needs to get done everyday. Pulls in my Linear issues, creates calendar items for them, parallelizes tasks, etc. Doing a similar thing for workouts too. And *everything* happens right within Claude Code. This video will be a good one.

Opus continues to be the clearly superior coding model. Nothing has its level of taste yet. It’s so unbelievably good.

And I really hope I didn’t undersell the chat experience bc of the code comment. It’s going to be a total step change for most people. Pretty obsessed with the state of ChatGPT after this model release. Enjoying my chats more than ever :)

Overall, this has been my favorite take of the day. 1B people got a massive upgrade today. And that’s awesome.

the average experience of the average chatgpt user has gone up by 10x, but for a plus/pro sub, not by as much and that's not a bad thing

I also think you should just use whatever model you like using best, and this is by far the eval that matters most. Love it? Use it. Who cares if we disagree on tool and/or model. Just use stuff that works for you, and keep an open mind to trying new things.

And now a long list of bullet points. - Reminder: I do not do, and have never done, paid promos, and on days like today I’m glad I made that decision a long time ago. - The API pricing is unbelievable. Like seriously. Favorite thing from me today. Tip my hat to the team. - I really love the personality they landed on for GPT-5. It’s like if O3 was slightly more friendly. - Not sycophantic. I personally could probably have it be even more disagreeable, but I think they landed on the right slider setting for mass market. - The less hallucinations thing is real. Feel like I can actually notice its behavior differences there. Enjoyed this more than I thought. - It’s very generally smart. Tyler Cowen’s review probably hit this the best. Can talk about niche things without feeling like it’s BSing you. - Latency is good. - I totally get the why of it, but I absolutely hate the model router thing. Hope we can override it. - Solid improvement on chat that’s worthy of GPT-5 namesake. Feels like they definitely overhyped it though. I personally don’t mind the vagueposting. I actually think it activates the community in a fun way, but that was a touch overboard imo. For code: - Claude Code with Opus is still king and frankly it’s not close. - I’m wildly suspicious of people who claim otherwise, which leads me to… Today please remember… - You would be *shocked* how many people posting strong opinions and elaborate pieces today don’t actually use the models that much, especially for code. Many people you respect on here are complete airheads on actually using the models + tools. Seriously. - SF is many ways is a political game. Keep that in mind today as you read certain opinions. I live away from it for a reason.
My honest GPT-5 review: - It is a *phenomenal* everyday chat model - I will default to it for all normal chats - API pricing is incredible, major points here But code? I will still be using Claude Code + Opus.

Upgrade can mean any combo of: - pro plan integration - improved ux - more dev control/customization I’d also accept even just an announcement of stuff here given that DevDay is ~2mo away. Excited for tomorrow’s reveal regardless! Feels like Christmas Eve rn :)

Really hoping that GPT-5 is paired with a massive Codex CLI upgrade. This is the #1 thing I’m watching for tomorrow.
And if you’re feeling adventurous add UserPromptSubmit hooks for various flags. You can basically make the Claude Code input a customizable CLI.

Everyone should create a hook for Claude Code that adds an “ultrathink” prompt to requests ending in “-u”. Super easy way to maximize performance on-demand. Takes <90 seconds.

you should also be doing this
who needs agentic flow when you can just select all relevant files in bulk and get cerebras on qwen3 235b to output 1400 tok/s for $0.02 same task prolly would've taken 3 minutes instead of 2s with agents sed'ing and grepping around

looks like the x bots are already set to trigger on gpt-5 mentions. this site has such a massive, massive bot problem. it's insane, and it's gotten so much worse in the last month. @nikitabier it may be a losing battle, but extra resources to fight bots wouldn't hurt

Anyone who got a chance to play with Zenith on lmarena knows this thing is gonna be crazy. Use Claude Code for the agentic harness. Use GPT-5 for the creativity boom of Zenith. Prep now for instant plug-and-play.
GPT - 5 attempt on minecraft ZENITH TO BE EXACT This is impressive this is magic . @tszzl @aidan_mclau @apples_jimmy OPEN AI has literally made something insane 🙏

If you’re not *furiously* prepping for GPT-5 rn by building Claude Code hooks + tools that can call the OpenAI API then what are you even doing?

It’s not AGI until >90% of OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepMind, and xAI employees stop contributing to their 401k.
