Claude 4 Opus + Claude Code is an unbelievably great coding agent. Opus is basically an AI SWE. It’s the *most* productive I’ve been using AI to code while requiring the *least* effort of any tool - it just works. Give it todos and watch it speedrun your backlog. It’s magic.

With Opus you just kind of interact with it like a coworker and it works. You don’t need to adapt to the agent. The agent adapts to you. It’s powerful & precise out-of-the-box without going off the rails like 3.7 Sonnet has a tendency to do. They struck a beautiful balance.

My only criticism is that I really, really need 1M context. 1M tokens of truly usable context is an absolute game changer and has fundamentally changed how I work with models - especially when planning tasks. By the end of the year this needs to be standard for all models.

Workflow now: 1) if I need up-to-date docs for anything I use o3 with web search in ChatGPT 2) generate plan with repo prompt + Gemini 2.5 pro 3) pass those to Claude Code with 4 Opus 4) it almost always nails it, sometimes I’ll edit it just a bit further in Cursor So good.

I wonder what your anthropic billing page looks like 😬 By the way, is opus part of the max plan?

How are you using it, via Cursor or?
Using Claude Code via terminal as a window within Cursor. Then I still have the option to use Cursor features when needed.

it's expensive
I’m sort of framing it in my head as if it were a real dev, which then makes it look cheap!

wow, trying it right away! I benchmarked sonnet-4 yesterday, was already quite impressive compared to other sota models at coding tasks
here's what you can one-shot using sonnet-4 for $0.01 3D studio for visual assets: sick UI, functional, no db or auth yet mind blown, so much potential in this

I find it amazing that we have the same approach each time a new model comes out.

would you say opus is worth the cost over sonnet? very curious what cases opus excels at vs sonnet - although i don't expect satisfying answers haha seems like it's very much a "just try it out" kinda problem - go with opus if u can afford it or just start with sonnet and see how it goes

yeah, @mckaywrigley is always dropping gems

do you use Opus more for planning or code?
