Also, if $200/month makes a difference for you in terms of buying a house or not buying a house... then you shouldn't be buying a house.

I agree. A fifty year mortgage is a bad idea. The borrower will feel like they will never get out of debt. This is not a good substitute for figuring out better solutions for affordable housing. I did the calculation based on a $400k residence, no money down, 7% interest rate. The cost of the interest almost doubles going from a thirty year to a fifty year mortgage.

The Furries get to stay. Republicans can go.
The Spotsylvania County School Board is a mess despite right-wing reactionaries no longer holding a majority. The two remaining wackos are trying to ban furries from public schools.

Oh no! George Santos, his toy poodle, and basket of deplorables (his 'toy' collection) are leaving NYC. Whatever will the Empire City do?

A lot of men on here who have never lived more than 6 miles from their mother are like, “I’ll tell you this. You’re not going to see me taking the New York City subway any time soon.” Yeah, we know.

The ACA *had* a mechanism to keep costs down: a tax penalty if you weren't insured. But the GOP hated this policy, even though that's like the one part that was their own idea in plans years earlier. So they killed it in 2017. And here we are.
No, it's telling them the truth that the #ACA was never a sustainable program and needs to be completely redesigned. In the meantime, if they can't afford even the lowest bronze plans maybe its time to search for a job that includes health insurance coverage.

New: James Talarico follows several adult film performers, escorts and OnlyFans models on Instagram, according to an Axios review. His spokesperson JT Ennis said in a statement that "the social media team — including James — follows back and engages with supporters who have large followings and does not investigate their backgrounds. James has never subscribed to Only Fans or an escort service.” axios.com/2025/11/08/texas-s…
Just politically stupid and tone deaf. People like the subsidies because they understand health insurance is too expensive for a lot of people.
THUNE going hard against Obamacare subsidies this morning. Harder than usual.

I’d like to see a rigorous empirical study of the they/them ad. I think a lot of people assume it made a difference in 2024, but that’s not at all clear to me.
NEW: Republicans went all in on anti-trans messaging for the 2025 election, inspired by Trump’s “Kamala is for they/them” ad It didn’t work — and now they’re trying to figure out why Democrats, meanwhile, learned how to respond to this messaging notus.org/2025-election/anti…

Ben voted for Trump three times and hosts the most vile, racist, antisemitic, anti-LBGTQ bile possible on his cringe website. He's the same as Tucker and Candace but people keep insisting he has a valuable voice, he does not.
Say what you want about Ben Shapiro, but he is one of the few voices on the right who actually has the courage to call things as they are, even when it means standing up to his own side. While others tiptoe around “friends” like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens to avoid backlash, Ben does not cower or compromise. He calls out hypocrisy, antisemitism, and moral cowardice wherever he sees it. In an era where too many people care more about protecting alliances than protecting principles, that kind of integrity takes serious backbone.

Another national institution and treasure being destroyed by this WH and its incessant need to politicize everything.
.@ShawnMcCreesh reports on the Kennedy Center: “Audiences are staying away. Internal sales figures obtained by The New York Times showed ticket sales down by about 50 percent from the same period last year during one typical week in October. Dozens of employees, many with decades of experience, have been fired or quit. Outsiders with few obvious qualifications aside from party loyalty were handed top jobs. The center’s head of human resources estimated that staffing was down 30 percent from before Mr. Trump took over. Others call that a conservative estimate.” nytimes.com/2025/11/07/us/po…

No he wont because media whores like Jake Tapper wont report on it 24/7 the way they did with Biden, because Biden didnt generate ratings for them.
righties don't believe me but we are going to run into all the same issues with Trump's age that we ran into with Biden's
Maybe the dumbest SoD ever. An embarrassment to the country every day.
Hegseth: "We are not building for peacetime. We are pivoting the Pentagon and our industrial base to a wartime footing. Building for victory should our adversaries FAFO."
This is kinda bullshit tbh. Dems could easily net 3 or more safe seats out of VA.
Sen. Majority Leader Scott Surovell, just now on Politics Hour, suggested that a two-seat Dem pick-up is possible if Virginia redraws its congressional maps but "after that, it gets difficult." Also said it's too early to be talking about maps - voters have to weigh in first

More of Trump looking out for big corporations instead of the people.
The Trump administration has killed IRS Direct File, the program that let you file your taxes for free. Direct File will not be operational this coming tax season.

SCOOP: The FBI informant convicted of lying to the Bureau about a fake bribery scheme involving the Bidens has been quietly released from prison just months into a six-year sentence—raising concern he could be pardoned by Donald Trump any moment. Alexander Smirnov, who has multiple business ties to Trumpworld, was sentenced days before Trump became president. He had pleaded guilty to fabricating a story that former President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, had received millions in bribes from Burisma, a Ukrainian energy company, as well as to a $2 million-plus tax evasion offense. Yet despite Smirnov being judged a flight risk, with ties to Russian intelligence and foreign assets, the U.S.-Israeli citizen has been mysteriously missing from prison for at least the past four months.
This makes sense. Allred has barely been visible and Talarico has gotten a lot more buzz/press in recent months. The challenge for both is positioning the moves as ideal over the other. Honestly unclear which would be better though Allred has run good federal campaigns before.
