Before the last election, I warned that anyone who had lied on their CV, had a corporate credit card cancelled for misuse, then had a parliamentary credit card also cancelled for misuse, was displaying errors of judgement too grave for someone who would become Chancellor. So it's no surprise to me that someone who did the above, then one year ago made an "absolute commitment" on live TV NOT to raise taxes again, is now, with a straight face, telling us all that she's going to be raising taxes. Only a person with zero moral compass would do this, instead of resigning, in advance of this budget, saying "I have failed to keep to my promises, the only decent thing to do now is step down with dignity." She doesn't understand the concept. Nor does anyone in this government (or may in the last). We are at the mercy of a leaderless, directionless, spineless government, and we will all pay for it.
