Wealth flows from younger generations to Boomers h/t @GreenPlusAnE
The system is set up to extract wealth from Millennials and Gen Z and give it to Boomers: - NIMBY housing laws that make it impossible for first time homebuyers to afford a home. - Student debt that can't be paid off or discharged, leading to permanent wage depression. - State governments in unsustainable levels of debt to civil service pension funds while canceling those benefits for new hires. California pays an average of 102% of final earnings to retiring civil servants. - Proposition 13 lets longtime homeowners pay significantly less property tax than new ones. - Both Medicare and Social Security will not be fully funded starting in 2033. - Politicians are terrified of calling this out because 9 out of 10 people who go to their town halls are Boomers. I talked to one US Congressman who said "coming out too hard against Boomers is an almost sure way to lose an election". They're happy to call out billionaires but terrified to call out Boomers. Once you see it the first time, you see it everywhere.

Ouch, this one hits hard. Feels like we’re paying full price for a house Boomers bought at 25, plus their retirement party tab. Great thread, Spenser needed this reality check! Just followed you @spenserskates would really appreciate a follow back

Urm we pay income tax because we haven't retired yet?
Great thread with data, Spenser!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

This was the plan for immigration as advertised in The Economist in the 90s. The problem is boomers forgot that had children and it is hard to covert socialists when you starve them.

If you younger generations have no wealth, now does it flow anywhere, let alone to those who already have it? I will wait for your answer, genius.
I am older n conservative, but the movement to exempt or protect seniors from property tax is crazy. If property taxes too high then don't pass a special deal - pass general relief.
Of course. Governments have always redistributed from young to old and rich to poor!!! ❄️
You act like the retirees didn’t contribute by paying taxes all their life. There is no wealth transfer, there were investments made into SS, payroll taxes, house purchase, etc. that performed well. I agree about housing prices but this wealth transfer is buying in not giveaway.

@ronin21btc They literally take from us to fund their retirement & lack of looking after their health.

It’s even worse when you factor in the deficits that we ran for decades keeping taxes lower and benefits higher for older generations who won’t pay the bill. Deficits are intergenerational wealth transfers

I'm still alive. Shut up and keep working fool.
This is a lie. Most elderly are on fixed income. Second, when the elderly were young they paid in like you are. Third, what is your solution? Throw grandma off a cliff? Maybe send her out to sea on an ice floe? Leave her on yhe frozen tundra? This is pure evil

Add in healthcare expenses too. Forcing young, healthy people into an insurance plan to offset and pay for the huge expenses when you get older.

But we made this country great. You guys haven’t a clue what hard work is. Illegals do.
