Every thumbnail on my channel was made with Affinity Photo. I bought it for $30 in 2012 and have used it every day since. The whole suite is now free to use. Incredible.
It's finally time to announce what we've been working on. Welcome to the all new Affinity. Download now from affin.link/28b5 - welcome to the start of creative freedom for all, totally free. Forever.

This is super cool. I own V1 and V2 suites, but my wife uses Canva premium for her business. Now she can access the total suite without further licensing. I'll keep using V2!

Should be the same features between v2 and free tier

What's their business? What are they selling if it's "free"?

They are selling Canva subscriptions to new AI features. I hope they are good, but I don’t use any in-editor AI features when doing graphics work currently. This is all specified in the video :)

Does this mean Affinity 2 won't constantly force me to login? It's the only reason why the 1 series is so much better
I’ve never once been asked to reauth

Knowing free Affinity was coming and having to keep the secret was hard. Affinity is so cool.

Free* Be sure to check your Canva privacy settings. Some of those settings are enabled by default and I personally found this problematic. I bought the Affinity suite to get away from those sorts of things.

Affinity Desiger was released in 2014, Photo followed in 2015.

Free in professional software is a liability. A ticking time bomb. If it’s for work I feel more confident paying for it

Nope, it’s not Affinity anymore. Got ruined by Canva.

I bought Affinity v1 Photo and Designer and then when v2 released I bought the universal license. Those are great deals. I hope the new direction does not go more and more into a full subscription model, but for now getting the full software for free is an amazing offer.

Same but with Affinity Designer. I'm a little sceptical about the Canva / Free model but generally very impressed with the upgrade.

Can confirm…still no charges ten years later. Designer and photo are great. Affinity > Adobe

Happily paid for the suite on your rec and ditched adobe immediately. It’s so good I’d gladly pay for it again. @Affinity y’all have my respect 🫡

The V2 affinity is the goat of 2D graphics. And the V1 is not much worse, I'v mainly bought the V2 just to support Serif before they got acquired

And depending what your content is and whether or not Canvo shares or opposes your views and opinions…. You could lose access to your account and everything in it. They just put Canvas terms and agreement on Affinity which now lets them monitor everything the software is used for and stop you from using it is they don’t agree.
