I have so many thoughts about this. I agree with them about the awards. But in my opinion, this statement is everything that's wrong with modern worship culture: "Either He shows up in the room or it's not been worship." The emotionalism of the encounter-driven worship can be powerfully seductive. It can cause your subjective experience to bypass your mind and trump biblical truth. God doesn't "show up in the room." He indwells every believer...where we are, He is.

I increasingly want nothing to do with the culture of CCM (and contemp. Christian culture in general). I agree with your critique though. This “show up and show off” mentality is antithetical to biblical worship.
