the truth is that web3 games are a subset of real money games & inherently a smaller market if you add any web3, it's RMG but web3 potentially unlocks new mechanics & types of games that weren't possible before & that is where the interesting value prop with web3 lies

I talk to the last man standing who still believes play-to-earn works! @whatslukedoing describes the highly targetted rewards platform for @pixels_online and its wider ecosystem including new app Chubkins. 2:09 'This is probably the worst market sentiment I've seen in the space.' 5:40 'Without speculation, you have to build something that's fundamentally sound. That's hard.' 7:50 'In early 2024, Pixels was loved. People were making money. But we weren't making money.' 8:39 '1% of our players were taking 50% of the rewards.' 9:51 After recent changes, Pixels has generated a Return On Reward Spend greater than 1. 12:25 'I think over time, Play-to-Earn becomes more of a loyalty or a cash-back system.' 14:00 'We've noticed crypto is very off-putting for normal users. Robux or V-Bucks are more effective.' 20:45 The spend-only vPIXEL token has been surprisingly effective when used correctly. 23:45 Pixels Chapter 3 introduces Unions, which are factions for competitive gameplay. 27:13 'The issue with web3 gaming isn't fidelity, it's figuring out the economics.' 27:53 'We did $20 million in revenue in 2024. 2025 will be less but it's more sustainable.' 29:41 Why Pixels has launched new social tamagotchi app Chubkins. (Currently US-only.) 30:05 'We're not going to emphasis crypto, but we will emphasis rewards, including crypto cash-out.' 33:50 Pixels also plans to launch a standalone rewards app in 2026.

I had a new idea for the taskboard
play-to-earn is officially over. It is time to pursue a conventional job, as your family has always suggested. It has been a pleasure meeting all of you, and I truly value the friendships we have built along the way. Farewell for now. FYI, this is not a copypasta.

i don't think anyone i've talked to thinks that it is a bad time to buy bitcoin. every normie i talk to plans on buying a dip under 100k alts though - everyone is nervous, no normie I know is interested in buying - how do we change that narrative?
market is bad & sentiment is low but my motivation is the highest it's been in a while metrics & fundamentals are turning around we have some cool product announcements coming in the meantime if i need to start posting thirst traps to save the chart i'll do it

people can't comprehend that some people actually play @pixels_online because they like it and have fun & that's who we're building for yes - we over-indexed on the earn only crowd for a long time, but there is a model where we can give earnings to players and make money too
it looks like people feel see results about chapter 3! good signal!

🌙✨ Did you know that Starry Mooncake Gaming has a club in real life? We recently hosted an amazing event where our community came together to learn more about @pixels_online, on-chain technology and how Web3 gaming connects us beyond the screen. Of course, it wouldn’t be an SMG gathering without delicious food and some fun mini-game events for everyone to enjoy! A huge thank you to everyone who joined and spent your precious time with us, we'll see you very soon on the next meetup 🫡

for the last 2 weeks @pixels_online has been 'profitable' when it comes to earnings vs spend in-game this has been due to 3 things 👉 better targeted earnings from rewarded offers 👉 a new content patch 👉 new economics with chapter 3 goal is to see if we can keep this above 1 while still having the game feel fun & fair. the ideal long-run target is a RORS of 1.2-1.4, so we can save some room for new user acquisition I am particularly bullish on our targeted earnings system ( the same tech we'll be rolling out to any game in the next month or two ) - early results from this system have been extremely positive & those rewards have made users feel much better than previous systems
what union should i join??? taking bribes ty

there are only maybe like 10 web3 gaming KOLs out there that can bring any meaningful users or spend to a game tbh the most effective ambassadors otherwise are the ones that come from your own community (shoutout to people like @zombinaaaaa - so many others too)

play-to-earn works when you reward your most loyal users & spenders instead of bots / extractors they are actually grateful to be recognized & in return they spend & contribute more our new play-to-earn infra does this - results have been even better than expected we're opening the tech to a few more partners. we will act as a white-glove data science partner, and will cover the UA spend as well in the initial phases reach out to me if you're interested revenue made through this product will support $PIXEL

The beauty of pixels & their hidden sub communities. So many people here in crypto twitter still don’t understand the appeal but it’s actually very simple, people simply want to socialize and Pixels offers a cool creative place to do so. No need to grind, you can just hangout.
Had a blast last night with an early Puppy Halloween celebration @pixels_online while waiting for @cagyjan1's stream, visiting and rating incredible speck designs. With a little hint of #WENMALLOWS @pixelmallows.

Something unexpected happened over the past 3 days with @Ronin_Network and I’ve had mixed feelings about sharing it. But I think it needs to be said. Honestly, it’s what the space needs to hear. Two days ago, our youngest visitor (Benjamin) walked into The Ronin Arcade at @Zebu_live with his mom. He sat down and started playing @playwildforest, simply because he “liked the look of the little animal archers.” He played for about 30–40 minutes, didn’t grasp all the mechanics, but had fun just playing. (Huge thanks to @GilaCees for taking the time to guide him) Then he noticed the game on the next screen and said he wanted to try “the pretty game.” That game was @pixels_online. I’ve played Pixels before, but I’d never seen a child play it in person. What happened next blew my mind. He played for two hours straight. He didn’t complete many quests; instead, he wandered, explored, and eventually found his favorite place: The Rainbow Road. He walked up and down it for 15 minutes, this was our dialogue... Me: What are you doing? Benjamin: Following the Rainbow Road. Me: But why? Benjamin smiled and said: Because I want to and it's fun. That moment hit me. As much as we design gameplay loops or incentive quest systems, people will always play how they want to. Their motivation is their own. And that’s what makes gaming so powerful. Which got me thinking about Ronin. Ronin was born from @AxieInfinity, created out of necessity. Then it evolved into something much bigger with over 31 M wallet installs that gives access to our ecosystem of games, builders, and communities Built for today’s generation of (web3) players, and for the future generation of gamers. So if you're worrying about if web3 gaming is dead, you need to zoom out, and re align to why you starting gaming in the first place. I want to help build and support games that will give kids ( and adults) the same nostalgia as Pokemon did for myself, that's why I chose to Ronin.
some value-props of web3 gaming that thought leadership were pushing were overstated web3 gaming does have some unique advantages against web2 gaming though 👉 tightly integrated real money loops (web2 real money games look like casinos, partly due to regulation knee-capping them) 👉 instant cash-outs (web2 real money payouts take days) 👉 better secondary markets (trading nfts actually is easy & you don't need to go through black-markets to do so) 👉 financial layers on-top of games (prediction markets, perp trading, leverage) games that understand this still have the potential give a 10x better experience than current web2 alternatives - the web3 gaming market is not doomed - it just hasn't leaned into where the true pmf is yet some games have experimented a bit there but are still missing pieces to larger adoption games / ecosystems that crack this code still have a large market waiting for them

Pixel Dungeons’ New Social Dungeons Pixel Dungeons (PD) has introduced a new feature called social dungeons, connecting X engagement directly to gameplay and rewards. Here’s how the new experience works: ✨ Viewers interact with a X livestream hosted by PD or a creator. 🎟️ Engagement actions like likes and reposts unlock a free dungeon entry ticket. 🪙 More engagement increases the prize pool of $PIXEL rewards and extends the event. 🎮 Audiences convert from viewers into active players in real time. PD partnered first with creator Cagy, generating nearly 30K views and reaching its highest player concurrency so far. Early reward pools included $7K in the first event and $6,500 in the second, likely funded through the $PIXELS game-staking system. The initiative gives PD a new path for user acquisition by turning X audiences into players without upfront cost. PD plans to expand creator collaborations and explore co-marketing opportunities with brands, communities, and other tokens. With X slowly improving its stance on external links, this approach could make the social platform a stronger funnel into gameplay. Read more on G3 gam3s.gg/news/pixel-dungeons…
