I loved this movie bc it’s one of the few that reveals how chronic self victimization can wreak havoc on your relationships.
Her husband was a classic case of martyrdom: constantly using self sacrifice as a mask to avoid his own fear of failure. People outside of the relationship praised him for it, believing him to be as generous as he presented, but she knew he was really cowering and resentful of her confidence and discipline. Even after his death, his image as a martyr framed her as a villain. Her only crime was that she was more honest than him.

Usai terpilih sebagai wali kota New York pada Selasa 4 November 2025 waktu setempat, Zohran Mamdani menjadi sorotan dunia. Masyarakat dunia takjub sebab sejarah baru saja tercipta di kota terbesar di Amerika Serikat. Zohran, seorang Muslim berusia 34 diusung partai Demokrat terpilih sebagai wali kota dengan perolehan suara 50,4% (1.036.051 suara) mengalahkan Andrew Cuomo yang maju dari jalur perseorangan mendapat 41,6 persen suara.
Zohran adalah sosok yang tersembunyi di balik megahnya kota New York dari ratusan tahun silam. Sejak 1624, belum pernah ada pemimpin New York dari kalangan Muslim. Terpilihnya Zohran seperti oase di tengah kegersangan. Siapa sangka, di tengah kuatnya narasi Islamphobia, kampanye anti imigran, tudingan komunis dan anti semit, tekanan sebagai minoritas, aliran uang yang begitu besar mengalir dalam kontestasi, keterlibatan para pembesar termasuk Presiden Donald Trump, politisi muda keturunan India-Uganda justru dipilih warga New York.
Apakah ini tanda perubahan politik besar di New York City atau Amerika Serikat secara umum? Seorang migran, Muslim, minoritas, muda, dana kampanye cuma Rp 4,3 miliar jauh dari angka fantastis rivalnya Rp 356,72 miliar, berhasil menembus batas politik tak lazim sekaligus memikat hati warga New York. Gagasan perubahannya pria kelahiran Kampala, Uganda, 18 Oktober 1991 pun diterima warga seperti bus gratis, hunian layak warga, penitipan anak gratis, terjangkaunya harga makanan, jaminan kesehatan, meningkatkan upah minimum, hingga menaikan pajak orang kaya mampu mengantarkannya pada kursi kekuasaan.
Zohran, dengan pidato kemenangannya yang begitu meyakinkan merupakan pemimpin politk baru yang kisahnya menarik dibuka lembaran demi lembaran bukan hanya untuk New York tapi juga untuk dunia kini.
Ia masih akan berhadapan dengan tembok besar dalam mewujudkan visinya meski ia telah mengatakan dengan lantang, "Kita telah menggulingkan dinasti politik!"
