Lots of new kids entering the workforce are struggling. I'm seeing a lot of softness in even the seasonal retail and entry level job markets this holiday season. Grok says it's likely as bad as the 2009 recession. That's going to be a very bad thing

This is hands down the worst economy in almost 20 years.

Europe is doing fine. Tariffs immediately preceded the Great Depression. I'll leave it at that.

I literally cant even find people the market is so tight, I need people and cant find enough. There are jobs everywhere

I do not know, brother… $2,000 tariff rebates and 50-year mortgages paint the picture of a healthy economy! Next, you are going to tell me $40 for two kids’ meals and two value baskets is runaway inflation… I see a bargain-bin deal!

I’m a mailman. I can always tell the economy is sucking when the volume if packages is down, and it’s been way down lately.

I believe we're in a recession. And while market Street has been doing well, main street is STILL dealing with inflation and a lack of American jobs that pay anything remotely reasonable. Both Biden and Trump now have pointed to the stock market to deflect from job non-growth.

We've gotten a bunch of youngsters entering the trades though, at least locally, and that's extremely promising. And they're so jaded by PC bullshit that they're pretty consistently immediately embracing the crass culture that the trades provide.

"Experts" said the same last month...until the very solid jobs report. Low-skilled jobseekers are seeing a chunk of their competition leaving the country, either voluntarily or not. I don't think that sector has greater worries than they had last year.
Replying to @Grummz
Yes, I think that disposable income is very tight this year, and that's going to impact spending.

Retail does help you grow a thicker skin which is helpful in the long run.

Retail are tightening the belt. Running skeletal staffing. Was in Walmart last night, GM side of the store had 3 people after 6pm. One manager, one in electronics & one every where else.

Thanks for reminding me. I have 3 referrals to write for a young person who asked me for a hand.

The effects of the Wuhan flu lockdowns are still affecting America. Its just as bad in mainland china

AI is entry level equivalent but needs experience to point out when it’s wrong. It is a huge problem.

The more disturbing thing is the Ivy League is having issues finding jobs.

Tell them to join ICE. Nothing will get better until deportations increase. Other than that, there are tons of jobs out there.

At this time, the only explanation I have is the Fed was too slow in lowering rates.

This means millennials will be working till we die

Um . . . when was there a time in history when new workers entering the workforce WEREN'T struggling? It sure as hell hasn't been in my lifetime!
Replying to @Grummz
I can't help but wonder if it is the Gen Z issue with working. My daughter is mid Z. She started working at 16, and has been gainfully employed every since. All retail, but at barely 21, she has massive responsibility at her current jobs ($ Millions a day). She is a good worker.

Money isn't worth anything, everyone is broke, businesses are colluding to hire outsiders to save a buck, not sure there is a way back from this.

Then they will say again indians are stealing our job 😂

The GOP torched their brand voting to bail out the banks despite universal popular opposition. They've spent every year since Trump rehabilitated the GOP brand working back-channels to preserve the corruption. If they won't end it, I'll vote Mandamnism to get MY cut of it.

Yeah it's absolutely brutal out there. I feel sorry for Zoomers.

It's not bad for foreigners though. We are handing our country away so we deserve this and more.

that "softness" in entry level, when grok says it's '09 bad... that initial struggle sets a really tough tone for new kids.

Where I live, getting a job can only happen if you know a guy or have family in the biz. It has been that way at least since the 80s. I have no sympathy for people who can't get a job. You need to schmooze and rub elbows, if you want a steady job.
