My new Parliamentary Bill for Sanctions on Israel has been published. Only widespread sanctions will force Israel to stop its war crimes and end its illegal occupation. International law is clear: our Government must impose hard-hitting sanctions. We won't stop until it does.
Does @YvetteCooperMP really not realise: - we all know who is blocking the aid - her government is doing absolutely *nothing* to hold Israel to the terms of the ceasefire (that it tried to take credit for) A plaintive tweet like this, in place of any action, just exposes them.
In Jordan last week I saw warehouses full of aid still waiting to get into Gaza even though families are still going hungry. All aid routes must be opened and aid restrictions lifted now.

This was yesterday morning, if you missed it make sure you get it on catch up. Then compare & contrast with this from @Keir_Starmer - who is the real leader on climate?
Apparently it was @KevinClimate, which means it's essential listening (get it on Sounds). As an aside - good that he was on the BBC, but he really needs to be on the BBC *TV* news regularly, not just Radio 4. As regularly as a Reform politician, say.
"Fuel duty has been frozen for 14 years....which is estimated will have cost the Treasury £100 billion by next year" *£100 billion*. To support the oil industry, rather than decarbonisation. Or anything else, for that matter. scotsman.com/news/transport/…

This lawsuit has already cost us roughly $40,000 in legal bills but we will continue to fight it and we expect a complete and total victory, we stand by the reporting 100%. If you want to support our defense, see the reply, or share this post so others see it
BBC editor hires former director of UK Lawyers for Israel to sue Owen Jones for alleging his pro-Israel bias. You couldn't make it up!

Excellent guest on #R4Today just now clearly explaining that inequity is the biggest driver of the climate crisis, both between countries and within countries.
This is absolutely awful. We have the worst possible leader at the very time we need the best.
This is why COP30 matters.

Looks like that will settle the debate about the borders of an independent Highlands & Islands #HIndy
With a return to the Pliocene locked-in, the only meaningful question is, will we stop there or maintain BAU until a return to the Middle Miocene becomes inevitable or - ultimately - the early Eocene? If the latter, this is what the UK will eventually look like

Meanwhile climate scientist @KevinClimate on Radio 4 this morning also emphasising that there's no 'cost of living crisis', rather there's an equity crisis. Framing it as the former just diverts attention from the minority whose wealth continues to increase.
Tax wealth to address the extraordinary levels of inequality in our society OR punish people still struggling with the increasing cost of living? The chancellor must make the right choice in the budget. @dhnnjyn writes for the @guardian theguardian.com/commentisfre…

Short interview on the @BBCr4today programme with @amolrajan, discussing the upcoming Brazil COP & how the so-called “cost of living crisis” is being (mis)used by leaders & hi-emitters to avoid taking meaningful action on climate change. Starts 2:36:30 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002lp…

Honest? Realistic?
I think there are a fair few who would use other adjectives😉
This is like a renaissance oil painting.

An approach like this might have reduced the anger in Ardnamurchan & Morvern communities, especially businesses, over introduction of passenger fares. But then again, @HighlandCouncil didn't consult, they simply imposed the fares without trying to agree a fair approach locally.
This popped into my timeline so as a regular Corran Ferry user I thought I'd compare. Car fares similar (single tickets much cheaper, but bulk tickets more expensive) But look at the passenger fares: half the price of the Corran Ferry, but effectively a quarter as one way only.

Absolutely nothing about this on the @BBCNews bulletin at 6 o'clock, but lengthy pieces about a stushie at the Miss Universe competition, & what's coming up on Celebrity Traitors. Fine if it was a subscription service but completely unacceptable from a public service broadcaster

"Concerningly, the plan continues to place heavy reliance on unproven technologies such as carbon capture" Anything, absolutely anything, to actually avoid disrupting business as usual.
The Scottish Government's new Climate Change Plan is welcome, but must be matched by a laser-like focus on delivery and implementation. Read our full response: futureeconomy.scot/press/216…
