"Thousands, it not tens of thousands, of female athletes have been harmed by these policies"
"Okay, sure, yeah, but what percentage is that of the total number of athletes, huh? It's like less than one percent!"
This seems to be the typical pivot when activists are confronted with the fact that indeed, thousands of female athletes have been deprived of fair competition, robbed of medals, awards, and prize money, and pushed onto the bench and out of sport due to the "inclusion" of male athletes in women's competition.
I know that these activists don't seem to view women and girls as actual people, so let's substitute male athletes as the victims to illustrate how absolutely silly this argument is.
"Okay, yeah, [athlete A] is fixing games in exchange for money, but who cares? It's one guy doing it. Why do we need rules against this? Yeah, maybe it is unfair to the other athletes on his team, but you're making rules to target, like, one athlete out of how many million? What percentage is that out of all athletes on earth? Why are you focusing on this instead of fixing world hunger? Leave him alone!"
Or even better: "So what if the last Super Bowl and World Cup outcomes were fixed? That was two competitions out of how many million that year? Not even a percent of a percent! Why would we need rules against that? Why do you care?!?"
They are right in that it's insane that so much time, money, and energy has had to be wasted on this rather than our leaders and sporting authorities immediately making a clear and definitive sex-based female-only category and judges actually using their judgement to dismiss silly cases in which men cry discrimination when they aren't "included" on women's teams.
That could have been done in a heartbeat.
