whole time i felt like i had already watched this, because it was so reminiscent of lars von trier's melancholia. and i'm not sure what exactly it is that movie does that makes dunst's character still feel so human and easy to connect to, where this doesn't have that.
shitty theatre experience aside, i'm pretty lukewarm on this. ramsay forgoes us seeing any sense of normality in lawrence's character and just drops us neck deep in her breakdown and i think it hurts the film.
i think i'm just done watching smaller movies like this in the cinema. movie theaters in melbourne just don't know how to mask movies anymore and the audience is disruptive. just sucks. i'd rather wait until i can torrent it in HD which will only be after like two weeks anyway
