One of the most ominous risks for Europe is that of a major change in Atlantic ocean currents. Recent science suggests it has been greatly underestimated in the past -including by me, having worked on it for over 30 years. Here my half-hour presentation in Vilnius a week ago!

👀 DON'T LOOK AWAY 👀 How many more videos like this will it take for people to finally wake up to the reality of climate change? It’s happening now. Rising temperatures, stronger storms, and shifting weather patterns are claiming lives, devastating agriculture, harming wildlife, and destabilizing the ecosystems that sustain us all. WAKE UP!! This is in the Philippines during the catastrophic flooding from Typhoon Kalmaegi. The death toll has now risen to 224 with many still missing. Another monster typhoon is on it's way and due to hit on Sunday.
Did you know we still have enough ice on our Earth now to raise global sea level by 65 meters if it were to all melt?

Today the 2025 State of the Cryosphere report was published by over 50 leading cryosphere scientists. An urgent warning about the global consequences of the meltdown of ice, including the risk of shutdown of the Atlantic Ocean current system #AMOC. 🌊 iccinet.org/statecryo25/

My message to leaders at the #COP30 Climate Conference: We can choose to lead – or be led to ruin. Choose speed, scale & solidarity. Choose to make this the turning point. Stand with science. Stand for justice & future generations.

The explosive, exponential growth of solar energy makes it the fastest growing energy technology in history. Cheap to build and fast to deploy, solar installations grew 10-fold in the last 10 years and provided 6.7% of the world's electricity in 2024. The future is very sunny.

The hard truth is that the world has failed to ensure global warming remains below 1.5°C. We need a paradigm shift to limit a temporary overshoot’s magnitude & duration & quickly drive it down. #COP30

Continuing to pollute our minds & the planet. The world needs to stop this manipulation & denial, & invest in a global counter movement for truth. The truth of existential risks on our watch. Truth of sustainability as the only route to prosperity & equity theguardian.com/environment/…
The devastation in the Philippines is heartbreaking. As of this morning, officials say at least 114 people have died and 127 are still missing after Typhoon Kalmaegi (TinoPH) tore through the central region. Entire communities were flooded, homes destroyed. The government has declared a state of calamity as rescue teams continue to search for the missing. The climate crisis is hitting the most vulnerable first and hardest. Every year, storms are growing stronger, deadlier, and more unpredictable. It’s hard to imagine the pain so many are facing right now. 💔

In fact it is already happening. The tropical coral reefs are past their tipping point, mass bleaching is widespread. 😢

Guterres is right. Even a temporary overshoot could unleash far greater destruction & costs for every nation. It could push ecosystems past catastrophic and irreversible tipping points. Fossil fuel companies are deceiving the public & obstructing progress. theguardian.com/environment/…
#Kalmaegi

Despite 61% of Americans regarding the scientific evidence supporting a warming Earth as solid, the current administration has successfully and systematically defunded most institutions providing scientifically sound information about climate change. realclimate.org/index.php/ar…

Hmm. Am 11. August 1986 erfunden?
Some problems with this conspiracy theory: There are tens of thousands of climate scientists. All corrupt? Who pays them all? The BIG money is in fossil fuels. Governments don’t like what we climate scientists find. How is ‘actual science’ suppressed in free democratic countries?

Here is our Exxon study in Science. Exxon told the public a very different story. It is unbelievable how many people swallow climate misinformation by fossil fuel interests hook line and sinker, and even willingly regurgitate it here. (Check below.) science.org/doi/10.1126/scie…

Huge congratulations to Harvard’s Naomi Oreskes for winning the Volvo Prize! She is a pioneer in unmasking the financial interests and methods behind climate science denial. I’m proud to have published with her how Exxon knew exactly what they were doing. environment-prize.com/laurea…

The basic insight that sea level has been stable for millenia until modern warming is not new or surprising, ➡️my 2011 blog. It's another nice data set and confirmation. Good science unlike Trump's DOE report claiming sea level is rising since the Ice Age. realclimate.org/index.php/ar…
