These are important comments from influential Chinese intellectual Jin Canrong (金灿荣): "The ascent of the West was historically grounded not in abstract ideals but in the industrial power generated by capitalism, which enabled Western states to subjugate agrarian empires across Asia and Africa β€” only later rationalising their supremacy through claims of universal values. To reverse this historical trajectory, non-Western countries must resist the illusion of Western ideologies and value systems and prioritise the concrete task of industrial development. In an era when global competition increasingly favours those with scalable industrial capacity, regions devoid of such strength remain exposed. China’s industrial parity with the entire G7 thus marks a decisive moment in the ongoing shift of 'the East rising while the West declines' [δΈœε‡θ₯Ώι™]". open.substack.com/pub/sinifi…

You gotta love how Tobi, a $10B+ founder of Shopify, took time out of his busy day to build one of the neatest, most useful command line tools ever, β€œtry”. When engineers stay true to their roots despite all their success, it’s beautiful to see.
Day 8 - Urban On the occasion of the Urban theme, this map illustrates road network density across Lombardy, highlighting the structure of the urban fabric and the areas where human presence most strongly shapes the landscape.#30daymapchallenge #day7 #cartography #mappingitaly

Google literally just killed 100s of startups Their new β€œFile Search Tool” (incredibly dumb and misleading name btw) is a hosted RAG solution that allows you to upload files like DOCX and PDF, and chat with them This could be used for things like customer chat bots, where you just put in your company data (FAQs etc) Wild times
Introducing the File Search Tool in the Gemini API, our hosted RAG solution with free storage and free query time embeddings πŸ’Ύ We are super excited about this new approach and think it will dramatically simplify the path to context aware AI systems, more details in 🧡

One underrated unlock of coding with AI is that it's just so much easier to prototype things. Back in 2019 I would consider myself lucky if I could build 2 prototypes to show to users. And that would take like a week to do. Now you can explore 5, 10, 20 different directions before committing to one and spend less than an hour on this. This is only one of the strategies @kieranklaassen uses when building @Every. If you want to build like a Senior Engineer you should read this. every.to/source-code/teach-y…

very important in companies. Keep the ones willing to "truth nuke" close. They are load bearing.
The reason it’s incredibly hard to break out of a β€œkind lie” doom loop is because the longer it’s gone on, the more unkindness is needed to get back on track. And the fact that you’re in this situation to begin with probably means your culture will hate that.

At Coinbase, it's a fireable offense to create a new committee that has not been explicitly approved by Brian or myself. In the vast majority of cases, spreading authority across multiple people is inefficient. And once you’ve added an unnecessary layer of bureaucracy to something, it's harder to remove. Each new committee compounds, further slowing the business down - best to avoid this wherever possible.
brainwash your agents. context engineering doesn't have to be hard, there are so many low-hanging fruits. just keep the memory a holy place and drop the bs messages I just wrote a blog post on how we do it at @CamelAIOrg. these are simple to implement, must-have techniques for apps that use agents, which can optimize the accuracy and the cost without crazy code changes. 🎁 BONUS: I created a number of bite-sized issues that you can get on right now and start your open-source arc. just open a PR, or help review one. read here: shorturl.at/zyCv7
