The privacy maximizing Signal messenger @signalapp stated if such law were introduced, they would officially leave the EU market. They will never be forced to comply - opposed to WhatsApp, which I therefore discurage using.

Ukraine, where I live, is a candidate country for EU membership. I am Ukrainian and I hate when my privacy is violated without my consent. I do not want to be an EU citizen if the right to privacy is lost in the EU.

Was sich in Brüssel derzeit abspielt, ist ein beispielloser Angriff auf unsere Privatsphäre.
Die EU will künftig private Chats auf WhatsApp, Signal & Co. durchleuchten – angeblich zum Schutz der Kinder. In Wahrheit ist das nichts anderes als der nächste Schritt in Richtung Totalüberwachung.
Gerade wir als Rechte sollten nicht auf diese „Law-and-Order“- oder „Kinderschutz“-Fallen hereinfallen. Sie öffnen Tür und Tor für die totale Überwachung.
Je multikultureller ein Staat wird, desto mehr muss er Überwachung und Kontrolle einsetzen, um die Gesellschaft überhaupt noch zusammenzuhalten.
Freiheit gibt es nur in relativ homogenen, vertrauensbasierten Gesellschaften – in einer echten High Trust Society.
Wer Freiheit will, darf der EU ihre Überwachungsfantasien nicht durchgehen lassen. Wer Sicherheit will, darf nicht seine eigenen Bürger überwachen, sondern muss Grenzschutz und Remigration fordern.
