Will the real @salesforce "Developers" please stand up? 👀 A hackathon is about CODE, it's about ARCHITECTURE, it's about ENGINEERING, it's about the art of possible- NOT about FLUFF building wrappers for prompts. TLDR- This is a video about our team's experience of participating in the @Dreamforce hackathon, a contest which is supposed to focus on code, architecture, novelty of use cases, engineering & innovation on Agentforce & @SlackHQ! I've worked on Salesforce for the last 18 years- with several highs & lows in the journey. I've appreciated Salesforce for all good things & I've called a spade a spade on several occasions- certification pricing, PLC, Support & more. However, the standard of judging for this 'Dreamforce' hackathon & the focus on selecting stitched up demos- with Topics + Actions + Custom Objects + few slack interactions being disguised as 'AI Agents' has left me frustrated & disappointed. 👎 This was my team's entry to this hackathon - Paygentforce - paygentforce.com - a Slack-powered Payments framework for Agentforce, powered by Google A2A (Agent2Agent) and AP2 (Agent Payments Protocol) - two emerging standards for Multi-Agent communication - backed by Salesforce. This was our video- lnkd.in/gXWvyFWw We did NOT make it to the finals so I did a deep dive analysis including judging all submission entries of this hackathon by AI- ChatGPT, Gemini Pro & Perplexity Pro - providing full context, submission description, solution & demo video - PLEASE WATCH THE VIDEO to see the results! 🫣 We built a framework for demonstrating how Agentforce Payments could work in a Multi-agent scenario- explained the protocols, the novelty & how this can serve as the future for making Agentforce Payments compliant with AP2. After the submission process, we showed it to the team at Google & received encouraging feedback including how this is one of the first few AP2 implementations (see video). For context, - Only submission which is Multi-Agent - Only submission with integrations - Only submission which uses @heroku (For AP2) This isn't just about this hackathon, it's about the core focus for innovation- engineering OR marketing. Salesforce is one of the most innovative companies in the world & while I'm proud to work on it, the focus has to be core engineering (LLM, Reasoning, Grounding, Protocols) rather than superficial application layer wrappers/ marketing. Lastly, hackathons are the breeding ground for next big ideas which change the world. I'm really looking forward to how these 3 finalists will shape up in 6-12 months beyond the current stitched up demos- will they be successful AppExchange products or serve as a baseline for next innovation? This will be my 13th @Dreamforce but perhaps the most special one till date.
