Contractors have gone fully off the cob. Every day is another shitshow.
Hire contractor to install a specific roof required by architectural board. This contractor was an ex-lawyer. Now owns roofing company.
After signing contract, contractor tells me "Sorry this shingle is unavailable - not being made anymore - we need to change order for similar shingle."
We have no choice, OK. We'll tell architectural board this is closest substitute.
Architectural board sees the different shingle and stops work. We tell them "original shingle is not available." "Yes it is" they say. They call 2 local suppliers and it is plainly available. Contractor needs to uninstall and reinstall correct shingle.
We go to contractor, wtf was that change order? The product was available. He says idk, but pay me in full (for 2 roofs, now) or we'll file lien.
We hire someone else do undo the wrong work and to complete the job.
Original contractor files false lien with incorrect dates, amounts, descriptions of work - a felony in this state.
What was his angle here??
Fully off the cob.
