Eleven months ago, GM Daniel Gormally literally warned everyone in a video called “Chess. com aren’t protecting Daniel Naroditsky.” He said Danya looked underweight, depressed, and on the verge of a breakdown. He even said — word for word — that it could end with Danya “topping himself” because of the constant accusations and pressure.
You knew. And you did nothing.
You let a delusional ex–world champion wage a lengthy psychological campaign against one of your most respected players: a man who embodied decency, calm, and respect for the game.
Instead of stepping in, you watched it unfold. You platformed it. You monetized it. Every click, every “reaction,” every algorithmic push kept feeding the spectacle while a person’s mental health deteriorated in real time.
And now that he’s gone, you’re trying to monetize his death with this hollow “tribute.” The same company that ignored every warning sign is suddenly heartbroken, producing polished grief for engagement. Spare us. You failed him when it mattered.
