No CNC machinists/CAM programmers, no tooling, no suppliers; electricity is crazy expensive; waste is hard to dump. No, California is not a good place for manufacturing.

Unless you’re in very bespoke on-demand hardware R&D with ludicrously short turnaround demands, any AS9100 shop could undercut anything being made at any production shop in San Francisco (or CA, for that matter).
