The most interesting thing I see is that #OpenAI already makes almost as much revenue as #AMD, one of the hardware makers it signed a #GPU deal with recently.
OpenAI's $20B ARR puts it in a revenue category similar to these other tech companies: Netflix (NFLX) $39.0B (FY 2024) PayPal (PYPL) $31.8B (FY 2024) Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) $25.8B (FY 2024) Adobe (ADBE) $21.5B (FY 2024) Intuit (INTU) $18.8B (FY 2025)
3 years ago today, ChatGPT did not exist. What a run it has been.
Simplifying the decision to use Sanctum or Passport for API authentication. 🧘‍♂️ Building API and need to give users API keys → do you want them to obtain those keys through an OAuth flow? If yes, use Passport (it's a library specifically for doing OAuth). If no, use Sanctum.

40% of startups die after a seed. 50% of the remainder die after a Series A. 60% of the remainder die after a Series B. 58% of the remainder die after a Series C. Roughly ~2.5% after the seed are acquired, so not “dead”. 0.5-1% go IPO. Startups are hard.

You know what's bothering me for no reason? Up until 1080p, we referred to video resolutions by their VERTICAL RESOLUTION 426x240 = "240p" 854x480 = "480p" 1280x720 = "720p" 1920x1080 = "1080p" But then above that, we started using HORIZONTAL resolution, but rounded 7680x4230 = "8K" 3840x2160 = "4K" And then for everything in between, we just... threw that out? 2560x1440 = "2K" ????????? 2772x1272 = "1.5K" ????????

My favorite way to learn is now uploading a bunch of source material to AI and then doing this: “Help me understand this paper step by step. Go from high level (simple explanations) to incredibly low-level, detailed technical explanations until I understand it. Do not advance without confirming that I understand each step with a quiz question first.” It has not failed me once. It’s very enjoyable and easy to pause and restart.
Blender 5.0 comes with new options for working color spaces - Rec.2020 and ACEScg. Which should you use? Turns out, bigger is not always better! You don't get "more colors". Here's why 👇🧵

PHP is the underdog But it's still winning We love a good underdog story
When I took a 3D animation class in high school, I would do all my work in Blender and then sneak it into class on a flash drive and import it into 3ds Max because I hated that software so much
I’m amazed how many students, even in first year, already know Blender. Even though the university teaches Maya, nobody seems to be happy to learn it. In the second year, students can use any software they want and most of them ditch Maya for Blender. #b3d

$AMZN now pulls in over $65B a year from advertising. $GOOGL monetizes search and $META monetizes attention but both are upstream. Amazon monetizes intent at the point of conversion, the layer AI agents will optimize most aggressively.

the reason AI works so good for coding in best case is because almost all developers are just creating sets of features already built somewhere else. most software engineering is just assembling, not creating.
