Is it not a bit weird though that the son gives the dad a present that John Lewis don't even sell?

Apparently it's meant to evoke 'Adolescence' in our minds. So, given what a tremendous pieve of evil that show was, I'm not sure.
Replying to @GeoffNorcott
Oh, very good. Fascinating that's it not even based around something they sell.

Hopefully they'll release a statement clarifying that the whole family are Trans.

I assumed the song would be The Kinks or The Stones or something, so why are they playing a song from my youth?! Oh yeah… right. I still forget sometimes that I’ve moved up a generational demographic

Was he having an MMDA flashback? Also, what kind of weird family has a white mother AND father? Was this filmed in KKK country?

Wow that’s an amazing @JohnLewisRetail Christmas advert. (No idea of the song but then I must be out of the demographic!)

It’s bloody marvellous 🤩 🎶 the tune is awesome and there’s no wokery in sight. Fabulous add and warms the cockles.

Does it? I wouldn’t call this a celebration. Christ no wonder the manosphere exists that people are cheering for dads and sons unable to connect

@JohnLewisRetail Massive congratulations. This is the best TV ad I've ever seen. Ever. Now I know what I'm getting my dad this Christmas.

Everyone just loves the message - at last - we see the value of family

Just celebrate that they have done it, Geoff.

“Quietly radical stuff”- Totally agree @GeoffNorcott . This takes @JohnLewisRetail back to the basics of what Christmas is all about, needless to say the @guardian have panned it.

It’s an advert for a business you fucking clown. You think John Lewis - retail business for Britain’s posh cunts and nonces in hiding - is some centre for radical art?

What’s the twist?? I keep hearing about the twist.

it is a lovely ad it is a shame it has been weaponised by right wing culture warriors (not you - i realise) celebrating its whiteness

“Radical”??? Dad’s struggle to connect with their kids. Bit of a tired trope to be honest.

I like it. A lot. It’s me when I had my 1st boy. It’s me on my 2nd boy. It’s me on my 3rd and 4th kids (twin girls). The best job in the world is being a Dad. It’s a hill I will die on. Good dads all want to be better dads that our own dad. Aim for that and you are golden

They sacked their previous disasterous woke CEO a while back didn't they? Probably why they seem a bit more "normal".
