The reality is we massively subsidise offshore & onshore wind, currently far more expensive than market price for electricity. Current market £70-80Mwh Offshore wind strike price £163Mwh. Only solar PV at £65Mwh is the cheapest renewable, but that is mostly in England

“Heat pumps are superior in efficiency to condensing boilers, even if the heat pumps are powered by electricity from a power station burning natural gas.” Not me saying that but the late Prof Sir David MacKay. More in my @CarbonBrief article 👇 interactive.carbonbrief.org/…

Instead of teaching kids discipline or responsibility, Scotland’s Education Secretary wants to start school later because teens “struggle to get up.” Brilliant, let’s redesign the system around lazy school kids penalising hard working ones. 🙈

Imagine your 83-year-old father lying on a camp bed you brought from home because A&E couldn’t find one. This is happening in Scotland — right now — under the SNP’s “leadership”. What a disgrace.

'It's a union!' bleat the separatists. No it isn't.
The United Kingdom is a unitary sovereign state formed by the Acts of Union—1707 uniting England and Scotland into Great Britain, and 1801 incorporating Ireland. These parliamentary acts legally merged crowns, parliaments, and economies into one indivisible realm under a single sovereign authority in Westminster. Devolution to Scotland via the 1998 Act disperses powers but doesn't alter the UK's fundamental unity; secession would require Westminster's consent or constitutional change, not unilateral dissolution.

🚨 NEW | Labour set for worst result since 1931 Polling averages in October suggest that Labour would win only 70 seats (-340), the worst defeat of any party in British history and Labour's lowest total since 1931. Reform would win 360 seats, a majority of 70.
Rachel Reeves a year ago: "We’ve now set the envelope for the rest of this parliament. We don’t need to increase taxes further." She might live to regret saying that. huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/s…

The revelation that Police Scotland failed to investigate a grooming gang in Glasgow is utterly shameful. If we can’t protect vulnerable girls from exploitation and sexual violence on this scale, we have failed as a society. Earlier this year, Conservatives tabled an amendment calling for a national inquiry into grooming gangs. Labour voted it down. Just weeks ago, Scottish Conservatives brought forward an amendment to launch an inquiry. The SNP voted it down. Enough. Stop the cover-ups. If the SNP continue to block this, many will ask the same questions being asked of Labour: what have they got to hide? This is a UK-wide scandal and one of the greatest state failures of our time. @RussellFindlay1 and I will work together to call for a UK-wide inquiry that delivers justice for victims.
'Scotland needs to be included in this inquiry!' Grooming gangs survivor Fiona Goddard shares her experience being trafficked and her subsequent fight for justice, as GB News reveal Police Scotland missed opportunities to help an anonymous victim.

She’s going to have to resign. A total betrayal, @RachelReevesMP, and an admission “it’s on [you & @UKLabour]!” Stop blaming other people. #TrevorPhillips #BBCLauraK

Four and a half years. That’s how long it’s taken Holyrood to decide whether Police Scotland should record the actual sex of rapists. Just think about that. A parliament paralysed by ideology, too frightened to state the obvious: that rape is committed by men. When truth itself needs a committee, justice is already on life support. Scotland deserves better than officials who need permission to say what everyone knows to be true.
We (@mbmpolicy) lodged this petition with the Scottish Parliament Petitions Committee in June 2021. This week, the Committee will finally take oral evidence from Police Scotland. Getting to this point has taken four and a half years. Almost the entire length of this parliament.

A great idea but with one obvious flaw. Being in possession of a notepad and IKEA pencil in a public space, does not make you a journalist.

Starmer is facing a backbench rebellion from revolting Labour MPs. Everyone can see he's a political dead man walking. No one wants him, his days are numbered. The most hated PM in British history. express.co.uk/news/politics/…
Remember when the rector of @aberdeenuni harassed the family of a dead man by quote-tweeting the announcement of his death, making a wild claim that he was abusing her online? To the family of a dead man. On the announcement of his passing. And @aberdeenuni are silent.
