If we can’t protect vulnerable girls from exploitation and sexual violence on this scale, we have failed as a society. Earlier this year, Conservatives tabled an amendment calling for a national inquiry into grooming gangs. Labour voted it down. Just weeks ago, Scottish Conservatives brought forward an amendment to launch an inquiry. The SNP voted it down. Enough. Stop the cover-ups. Four and a half years. That’s how long it’s taken Holyrood to decide whether Police Scotland should record the actual sex of rapists. Just think about that.
